  • Patent number: 10850407
Abstract: A blade assembly for a hair cutting apparatus includes a first blade having teeth extending along a first blade edge, and a second blade having teeth extending along a second blade edge. A distance between the first and second blade edges defines a blade gap. A yoke is coupled to the second blade and configured to convert motion of a drive into reciprocation of the second blade relative to the first blade to cut hair. A spring includes a spring base and at least one spring arm configured to reciprocate with the second blade. A guide assembly includes a guide and a spring retainer, the guide being positioned between the first blade and the second blade, and the spring retainer fixing the spring base relative to the first blade, wherein in response to moving the guide relative to the first blade, the blade gap changes.

  • Publication number: 20120144679
Abstract: The present invention relates to an electric hair clipper blade assembly having a guide plate connected with a fixed blade and a movable blade that moves in a left and right direction or horizontal direction and a connection/fixed member. In particular, the present invention relates to an electric hair clipper blade assembly having fixed and movable blades with depths deeper than those of conventional fixed and movable blades and a blade body DLC-coated, on which a portion of the guide plate, the fixed blade, and the movable blade are formed, to maintain fairly good cutting power in cutting short hair or curly hair.

  • Patent number: 7406770
Abstract: A trimmer having first and second cutting blades. The first and second cutting blades are mounted so that first and second flat surfaces, respectively thereon, face and are substantially parallel to each other. A drive causes at least one of the first and second cutting blades to move relative to the other of the first and second cutting blades. At least one fastening assembly has first and second facing shoulders between which the first and second cutting blades reside. The at least one fastening assembly further has at least one biasing element that produces a force that biasably urges the first and second flat cutting blade surfaces towards each other.

  • Patent number: 6895673
Abstract: A receiving groove is defined on a lower surface of a guide bracket. An oil pad is received in the groove. The guide bracket is defined adjacent to an end thereof with an oil inlet hole. A movable clipper blade is defined adjacent to front and rear ends thereof with front and rear oil passages and is positioned underneath the oil pad, such that the front and rear oil passages are communicated with oil storing grooves defined on a lower surface of the movable clipper blade, to supply oil between the movable clipper blade and a fixed clipper blade.

  • Patent number: 5153996
Abstract: A hedge cutting bar is shown and described as having rivets for securing a cutting blade between a retaining blade and a stationary blade. The rivet structure includes a central flange and distal hubs whereby the central flange may occupy slots in the cutting blade while the hubs attach within respective mounting apertures of the stationary blade and the retaining blade. The thickness of the flange is greater than the thickness of the cutting blade whereby a gripping force provided by the rivet is taken up at the flange to avoid pinching of the cutting blade between the stationary blade and the retaining blade. The described fastening arrangement is less suspectable to loosening under the vibrational forces imposed during use of the hedge cutting bar than that of prior fastening arrangements.

  • Patent number: 4462157
Abstract: An improved heavy duty snips and shears useful for cutting sheet metal or other stiff or rigid material. The improved snips and shears include a lower blade having a substantially horizontally disposed body. The body of the lower blade comprises a first horizontal section, an intermediate downwardly inclined section, and a second horizontally disposed section. The inner edge of the intermediate section forms a cutting edge which is turned upwardly such that the cutting edge is raised above the first and second horizontal sections. The upper blade of the snips and shears is pivotally attached to the lower blade and includes a downwardly extending heel disposed at the rearward end of the cutting edge. A machine ground boss is formed on one of the blades and provides a friction surface which provides a pressure point of minimum area to facilitate sliding contact of the two blades.

  • Patent number: 4214365
Abstract: A shear is disclosed in a preferred form which is particularly suited for cutting and trimming hair and which includes means for varying the length of stroke of the cutting blade or blades which reciprocate generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the handle, so that the unit can be manipulated in a manner similar to a comb or brush. The blade drive includes a transmission comprising a pair of eccentrics which are selectively phaseable to provide full range of stroke by addition and subtraction of their eccentric throws. The eccentrics are retained in their selected phase relationship by spring and frictional means which provide an overload release permitting the eccentrics to rephase to zero stroke when the imposed load overcomes the phase-retaining means. Control of the unit is effected by a rotatable and depressable button which controls the drive motor, adjusts the blade stroke by phasing of the eccentrics, and levers the cutting blade or blades from a retracted position into a cutting position.
