Abstract: A utility knife includes a handle, a blade holder assembly, a pair of resilient blade wiper members, and a spreader. The blade holder assembly is constructed and arranged to hold a blade at a position of use wherein the blade projects through an opening at a front end of the handle. The pair of resilient blade wiper members are biased towards one another and constructed and arranged to remove debris from side surfaces of the blade, which debris would otherwise be brought into an interior space of the handle when the blade is retracted into the front end of the handle through the opening. The spreader is constructed and arranged to spread the resilient blade wiper members apart to facilitate removal of the blade from the handle when the blade is in a blade change position.

Abstract: A utility knife employing a blade having multiple cutting edges, and a means for quickly and simply swapping out one cutting edge for another. In a preferred embodiment, a six-cutting-edge featured blade is employed. Each point of the six-cutting-edge featured blade features two distinct cutting edges, for a total of six cutting edges located on a single blade. The blade can be rotated about a central axis to expose new cutting edges as old edges wear and dull. In another embodiment, a single-edged blade featuring two cutting faces is housed in a knife handle. The blade can be flipped when the first edge is dull or worn to expose a second cutting face. The handle may optionally include a storage space for storing additional blades.

  • Patent number: 8561302
Abstract: This invention, through a novel arrangement of basic elements, has resulted in a brand new tool not previously available. This non-obvious implementation provides an electromechanical machine which is both useful and is easily operated. This invention can be arranged as a cutting device for cutting various items such as, but not limited to, plastic irrigation pipe and tree branches or, alternately, with a jaw attached in place of the cutting blade as a clamp or wrench. It accomplishes this by using a small battery powered electric motor and through appropriate reduction gearing drives a drive screw to produce a linear motion of a cutter blade or jaw. The mechanical advantages afforded by the reduction gearing and the drive screw produce sufficient force to perform as a powerful cutter or wrench/clamp.

Abstract: A tool for scraping, grinding, smoothing, machining or otherwise finishing a weld joint between two wire electrodes, such as those used in gas metal arc welding (GMAW) systems. When two wire electrode ends are coaxially joined together by a process such as butt welding, it creates a weld joint that can jam a GMAW welding gun or other device with tight dimensional tolerances. The tool described herein may be used to finish such a weld joint so that a relatively uniform cross-sectional shape and/or size is produced across the weld joint, thus, making it less likely to jam the welding gun. According to an exemplary embodiment, the tool is designed to fit over two wire electrodes connected by a weld joint, and generally includes a housing assembly and a cutting device.

Abstract: A cutter knife in which a blade connected to a slider is slidably held in an elongated sleeve member. The slider is provided with a first engagement protrusion and a second engagement protrusion located on a forward end and a backward end in the sliding direction of the slider, one of which is to be inserted into a connection hole of the blade for connecting the slider and the blade. The distance from each of the first and the second engagement protrusions to the inner surface of the sleeve member when the slider is inserted into the sleeve member is smaller than the distance between the connection hole and the back of the blade. This results in biasing the blade back against the inner surface of the sleeve member for protecting the blade edge. When the inserting direction of the slider is reversed, the biasing direction of the blade is also reversed.

Abstract: A cutting device (1) for floor coverings, intended for cutting or starting a tear of seams, includes a base body (2) with at least one blade (3) that is mounted on the base body (2), and a contact edge (4), formed on the bottom side (5) of the base body (2), for an edge of a floor covering. A set of distance plates (6 to 10) are attached in the front area of the base body (2), and the blade (3) can be arranged parallel to the contact edge (4) and between two of the plates, which are of different thickness, so that a change of the arrangement of the plates allows the simple adjustment of the cutting width.

Abstract: A razor-knife housing has a neat part retaining a blade and displaceable in the housing through a front-end slot between an extended position with the blade mainly outside the housing and a retracted position with the blade wholly inside the housing. A retaining part in slidable on the seat part between a closed position overlying the blade and holding it on the seat part and an open position exposing the blade on the formation and allowing it to be removed therefrom. The parts have faces normally engageable with each other to prevent sliding of the retaining part on the seat part. One of the faces is displaceable transversely to the other to allow the parts to slide relative to each other. In the extended position of the seat part and open position of the retaining part, the blade is is not retained on the seat part by the retaining part.

Abstract: A roller cutter has a partially circular housing having a slit extending in from receiving a cutter wheel, which can be selectively shifted between an extended cutting position and a retracted position enclosed within the housing to protect the cutter wheel cutting edge. A push button operates a latch release to allow shifting between these positions. A slide bar mounting the cutting wheel for shifting movement is itself held in a slot in the housing, but may be released for removal and cleaning. A tangential grip at the top of housing allows convenient stroking for cutting pizza, mincing herbs, etc.

Abstract: A self-adjusting knife assembly for scoring tenders from chickens, the assembly having a pair of generally parallel handle halves in spaced relation and positively connected by a connector pin, to permit a pair of generally parallel knives, which are mounted on the forward ends of the handle halves, to move toward and away from each other. The connector pin is mounted so that the two handle halves are positively connected to permit relative rocking movement therebetween about a transverse axis disposed in a vertical plane, to thereby permit the pair of knives to self-adjust and follow the opposite sides of the keel bone of the chicken throughout its length, and thereby separate the tenders cleanly from that bone. Spring extends between the forward portions of the two handle halves and constantly gently urges the knives apart. The knives follow the contour of the keel bone, despite its irregularities of shape, as the knives are moved downwardly throughout the length of the keel bone.
