With Additional Cutter Means Patents (Class 30/34.1)
  • Patent number: 6957490
Abstract: By providing a beard and mustache trimmer construction wherein a single motor driven element is employed for directly operating both the main cutting blades as well as a pop-up trimmer, an easily employed, efficient, beard and mustache trimmer is realized. The trimmer is constructed in a manner which enables the pop-up trimmer to be directly driven by the same element which drives the principal cutting blades. In this way, greater power is delivered to the pop-up trimmer element than has otherwise been attained with prior art systems as well as providing substantially reduced noise levels. As a result, a substantially enhanced cutting and trimming system is realized.

Furthermore, at least an additional blade (trim blade) is located at a suitable angle, preferably 60-120°, to the shaving blades. The shaving blades and the trim blade are preferably identical. Advantageously the apparatus is provided with a rotating device enabling different blades to be in contact with the skin.

  • Publication number: 20010003228
Abstract: The invention relates to an electrically driven shaving apparatus of the type having a reciprocating cutter (6). The cutter is situated in a shaving head (2) which is freely pivotable between two positions. The shaving apparatus also comprises a trimmer (4), which is movable from a non-driven rest position (17) into a driven operating position (18). In this operating position the shaving head (2) is pivoted away into a locking position (19), in which position the cutter (6) is not driven. The advantage is that all the motor power is available for driving the trimmer.

  • Patent number: 6226869
Abstract: The invention is directed to an electrically operable shaving apparatus (1) including at least one short-hair cutter (3) and a long-hair trimmer unit (2) disposed on a housing, with at least one cutting edge formed by cutting teeth of an outer cutter and an inner cutter, in which a component (4), which acts as a guard protecting the skin, is associated with the cutting edge in at least one operating position, said component (4) ceasing to act as a guard protecting the skin in at least one further operating position, wherein said component (4) is displaceable in conjunction with the long-hair trimmer unit (2) into at least one operating position in which said component (4) acts as a guard protecting the skin, and wherein on displacement into a further operating position the long-hair trimmer unit (2) is released by relative opposing movements of the long-hair trimmer unit (2) and the component (4).
