  • Patent number: 8302317
Abstract: The invention relates to a scraper structure, which is generally comprised of a long handle for handgrip and a scraping section in its front. Basically, the scraping section of the scraper is comprised of a jaw plate, a blade, a fastener and a fastening button. The front end of the scraping section extends downward or forward to form a blade slot and has a jaw base at the bottom to connect to the blade slot. The jaw plate has identical shape to the clamp jaw in the front of the jaw base. The fastener and the fastening button are combined to provide tightening and enable the clamp jaw in the front of the jaw plate to exert great pressure onto the blade and achieve quick blade replacement and assembly. Further, the fastening button can exert more force by the front hand in grasping the handle and achieve powerful scraping.

  • Patent number: 8065942
Abstract: The invention comprises an armoring element (1) of a knife haft, which has a bar (10) extending in an axial direction (100) and is connected to the tang (20) of a knife blade (2) using a connecting means (11). A secure, frictional connection in an axial direction (100) between the armoring element (1) and the knife blade (2) is formed by positive locking and/or material bonding between the connecting means (11) of the armoring element (1) and a corresponding counter piece (21) on the tang (20) of the knife blade (2). In an inventive method for producing a knife, the tang (20) and the armoring element (1) are coated with haft material, e.g. haft shells in the connected state. The haft material forms the actual body of the knife haft, wherein parts of the surface of the armoring element (1) may be disposed in the outer surface of the knife haft such that they are visible.

  • Publication number: 20010023541
Abstract: The present invention is an improved folding knife having a handle with opposing first and second sides and a rotatable blade coupled with the handle and moveable between a locked position at which the blade extends from the handle and an unlocked position. A slot is defined in the blade. A locking bar is coupled with the first side of the handle and has a free end biased toward the blade. The free end of the locking bar is received within the slot when the blade is in the locked position. An actuator member is disposed within the slot and is moveable with respect to the sides of the handle when the blade is in the locked position. The free end of the locking bar is forced from the slot of the handle when the actuator member is moved toward the first side of the handle so that the blade is rotatable to the unlocked position.

Two inner handle plates form a slot for receiving the knife edge in the closed position. One inner plate includes a first tab that is biased into the slot and is shaped to engage a flat end on the blade to prevent closing the blade until the first tab is manually pushed away from the blade end. The other inner plate includes a second tab that is biased into the slot opposite the first tab and has a small hard ball secured to the tab located so as to enter a corresponding hole in the blade when the blade is fully closed. The blade can be opened by manually rotating the blade with sufficient force to overcome the tab biasing force.

  • Patent number: 6108911
Abstract: This invention discloses an improved configuration for a hand propelled throwing projectile, combining elements of a throwing knife, a spear, a dart and an arrow. It includes a sharpened and pointed blade, a flight-stabilizing conical tail of flexible filaments, a rigid shaft between the blade and tail, and a blade holder between the blade and shaft which has a mass in relation to the entire projectile so that the projectile's center of gravity is located within the grip portion of the blade holder, which is contoured for gripping and throwing by at least two fingers. The projectile is thus gripped at its center of gravity, and the thrower's kinetic energy is imparted to it in the most efficient manner, as if the entire projectile were a mass point. The projectile is more easily thrown with accuracy and more reliably impaled in its target by users with minimal training and experience than a traditional throwing knife.

  • Patent number: 6070329
Abstract: A knife handle formed of two diverse materials includes a frame of rigid, thermosetting plastic having external surfaces and an elongated, internal cavity. A somewhat rubbery, resilient material covers portions of both the external surfaces and the cavity walls of the frame. The cavity is open at the distal end of the handle and is of substantially rectangular cross section. The resilient material covers all four walls of the cavity from the open end for a portion of its length, and covers only the two longer sides within the main body of the frame. A tang extending integrally from the knife blade is inserted into the cavity, contacting only the resilient material, with interference fit, within the cavity. Assembly is completed by inserting a rivet through aligned openings in the tang and handle, the handle openings being entirely surrounded by the resilient material.

  • Patent number: 4794694
Abstract: A knife has a snap-on tang interlocked with its blade and clamped between handle halves. Transverse and longitudinal locking between the blade and tang resists relative rotation or translation. Butterfly clips on the blade snap onto webs molded into one of the handle halves for resisting relative deformation therebetween. A further butterfly clip on the tang snaps onto a longitudinal web in a handle half for additional rigidity.

  • Patent number: 4470327
Abstract: An adjustable balance knife handle is integrally formed of a handle material (e.g., aluminum) formed in two mirror-image halves. Each half has a plurality of cavities disposed along its inner surface. Selected cavities are filled with a weighting material (e.g., lead) to adjust the balance and heft of the knife. Any remaining cavities are filled with a lightweight filler material (e.g., plastic foam) to exclude water from the handle.

  • Patent number: 4355465
Abstract: A handle made from a plastic material is used to grip support blades of household utensils, in particular kitchen knives. It consists of two handle halves resting on both sides of the support blade and terminating flush with the rim of the support blade and solidly joined together by rivet elements. To lower manufacturing costs for mass-produced articles and simultaneously ensure firm seating of the support blade in the handle, one of the handle halves is integral with at least two projecting rivet sockets and the other handle half is integral with an equal number of corresponding rivet pins. The rivet sockets are such in their outside diameters that they pass with slight play through the passage holes in the support blade and in that they are pressed hard in position against the edge of the passage holes when the rivet pins are introduced.

  • Patent number: 4233737
Abstract: A hand knife has a removable blade. Side plates are spaced apart on opposite sides of a main frame having a rectangular socket in one end thereof. One side plate has a non-circular aperture therein and the other side plate has a circular opening therein. A pin is movable on a transverse axis relative to the main frame and has a non-circular portion in the aperture and a circular portion in the opening. A blade has an exteriorly rectangular end slidable in a predetermined direction to fit the socket. The end interiorly has a keyhole opening, the circular portion of which fits the larger, circular part of the pin and the rectangular portion of which is open ended in the predetermined direction and fits the smaller, non-circular portion of the pin. A spring normally urges the circular portions into interengagement. A button on the pin, when pressed, overcomes the spring and moves the non-circular portion into sliding engagement with the rectangular portion of the keyhole opening.
