With Impact Drive Patents (Class 30/367)
  • Patent number: 4682412
Abstract: A wire insertion tool is disclosed including a manually engageable handle having an impact receiver slideably received on said handle. An impactor is carried on the handle and includes an impactor movable between a rest position and a displaced position and also movable between a load position and a fire position. The impactor presents a first surface opposing the impact receiver when in the load position and a second surface opposing the impact receiver when in the fire position. The second surface is spaced away from the first surface. A compression spring is provided for yieldably urging the impactor toward the impact receiver and toward the load position. A pivot mechanism pivots the impactor against the urging of the compression spring to the fire position as the impactor is moved to the displaced position.

  • Patent number: 4608853
Abstract: Percussion apparatus having a compressed air inlet (3) and serving to impart percussive movement to a tool (10), the said tool (10) sliding inside an envelope (1) fixed to the apparatus and being terminated by a spherical portion (22), includes the improvement wherein the said tool (10) includes a hollow tube (13) with one end (21) holding a ball (22) captive, which ball is urged against the end (21) by a spring (24) lodged in the tube (13). When the ball (22) is worn, it is easily changed.

  • Patent number: 4548278
Abstract: A power operated percussion tool in which a shoulder (28) in the tool housing (10, 17) defines a rear rest position for working implement (12) attached to the tool, and in which an energy absorbing bias unit (23, 31) is arranged to resiliently load the working implement (12) toward the rest position. The bias unit (23, 31) comprises a spring (23) and a shock wave mitigating ring assembly (31) and acts between a rearwardly facing shoulder (22) in the housing (10, 17) and a forwardly facing shoulder (30) on the working implement (12). The ring assembly (31) includes two spring steel rings (32, 33) formed with mating conical contact surfaces for transforming axial load variations into radial deformation of the rings (32, 33).

  • Patent number: 4487566
Abstract: A punching tool for use in a tablet making machine includes a body portion having at least one bore extending from an end of the holder a preselected distance into the holder. The bore is internally threaded a preselected depth. An interchangeable punch is threaded into the punch holder bore and extends a selected length from the holder. The end of the punch has an externally threaded portion and a cylindrical portion. The cylindrical portion is positioned between the threaded portion and the portion of the punch that extends outwardly from the holder. The cylindrical portion has a diameter that permits it to move freely without interference into and out of the internally threaded bore. The bore has an enlarged thread configuration provided with cylindrical bearing surfaces between threads. The punch threaded portion has a thread configuration corresponding to the configuration of the threaded bore to permit rapid engagement and disengagement of the punch in the bore.

  • Patent number: 4335511
Abstract: An assembly for determining the center of a stud or joint supported electrical outlet box on a sheet of dry wall prior to the latter being permanently secured to the studs or joints, and for forming an opening in the dry wall as a result of the determination that will be transversely aligned with the interior of the outlet box when the sheet of drywall is permanently secured to the framing supporting the outlet box.

  • Patent number: 4268926
Abstract: A rescue tool with an extended hollow housing has the shaft of a tool bit mounted in one end thereof for reciprocable motion. A substantially solid hammer is manually driven to strike the tool bit, the hammer extending the greater portion of the length of the housing when striking the tool bit. Manual actuation of the hammer is achieved by means of a shroud having a handgrip on its outer surface, the shroud being secured to the hammer at the end away from the tool bit. The hammer may be locked with respect to the housing to provide a pry bar of two different lengths. Securing the hammer to prevent complete withdrawal of the hammer from the housing is achieved by an easily removable snap ring arrangement.

  • Patent number: 4268927
Abstract: A combination hammer, impact device, and screw driver has an elongated cylinder formed in the hammer handle in which is reciprocably carried a drive piston, spring urged under the force of a heavy spring, toward the open cylinder end at the base of the handle opposite the hammer head. The spring is adjustably preloaded for corresponding adjustable impact forces, compressed and then released to drive the piston in an outward direction after a predetermined inward movement of an impact piston, also reciprocably carried by the cylinder and extendable from the handle base. The impact piston carries a removable impact tool. The impact tools and the adjustment member for the spring preload are color coded to obtain proper matching of the impact force and tool. A hexagonal recess is formed in the hammer head in substantial longitudinal alignment with the handle with a magnet being secured in the bottom of the recess.
