Cutter Comprising Driven Disc Patents (Class 30/418)
  • Patent number: 10981767
Abstract: An edge-breaking can opener includes a first clamping handle and a second clamping handle. The first clamping handle and the second clamping handle are rotatably connected by using a rivet. A round angle is set between a tray gear and a helical gear, which reduces a cutting height. A protrusion portion on an original cutter wheel is creatively changed to an elastically adjustable support wheel that acts on a can with different edge heights. It is convenient to perform occlusion during cutting, and a cut can cover can be directly and safely taken out, thereby preventing a hand from coming into contact with the can cover. The cutter wheel can easily perform cutting by using acting force of spring plate, which is suitable for cans with a certain material thickness.

  • Patent number: 9232769
Abstract: An automatic wet pet food dispenser and method are provided. The dispenser includes a cutting surface onto which at least one sealed container of wet pet food is securable. A cutting blade is contactable with and movable with respect to the container placed on the cutting surface to thereby cut open the container. When the blade cuts open the container, the wet pet food inside the container falls out. A container shaking mechanism shakes the container to facilitate the wet pet food falling out of the cut open container without substantially moving the container from the cutting surface. A logic and timing module is provided to enable programming of the dispenser in advance, and a communication module is provided to enable the dispenser to receive commands remotely from a pet owner and send messages to the pet owner confirming successful food deployment and eating.

  • Patent number: 6108917
Abstract: Disclosed is a safe and reliable method and apparatus for opening cylindrical metallic containers which cuts into the side of the cylindrical body of the can below the upper annular rim. The device of the present invention employs a specially adapted, angularly-positioned, tapered rotatable blade for performing the cutting operation. The use of a rotatable blade results in a clean non-jagged cut around the circumference of the container. The use of a rotatable, tapered blade to cut below the annular rim or seam of the container results in an inwardly-bent edge on the newly-cut lid having no sharp edges. This facilitates easy and worry free removal of the lid. In use, a can is placed in the device such that the knurled edge of an upper disc rests upon the top of the can. The rotatable side cutting blade is then moved such that it pierces the side of the can, just below the lip seal. The side cutting blade is locked into place, and the upper disc is rotated, thereby rotating the can.

  • Patent number: 5289638
Abstract: A can opener for opening cans of the type having a lid joined to the main body by a rim formed of inner and outer lid surfaces folded onto the upper edge of a can wall. A toothed drive wheel rotatably mounted on a housing engages the inner surface of the rim and forces the outer rim surface against a cutter wheel when a drive shaft is rotated by a turning handle. The turning handle is threaded onto the drive shaft so that rotating the handle both rotates the drive wheel and pulls it tightly against the housing which holds a rotatably mounted cutting wheel. This cuts through the outer lid surface to free the lid from the can. The cutting wheel has an outwardly flaring upper cutting edge and the drive wheel has a curved surface for contacting the inner margin of the rim. The two surfaces coact to force the upper cut surface outwardly and the lower cut surface inwardly. Consequently, as the lid is cut free, it is flared outwardly from the can wall for ease of manual removal and replacement.

  • Patent number: 5228203
Abstract: An automatic can opener having a motor-driven cutter wheel which cooperates with two stabilizing wheels or runners for performing a can-opening or cutting operation on two cans simultaneously. The single cutting wheel is directly inline with the motor armature axis and acts as the sole driving element for both rotating and cutting into the two cans that are held in rotational stability by the respective stabilizing wheels acting on opposite sides of the cans from the cutting wheel.

  • Patent number: 5205195
Abstract: An oil filter recycler for severing the casing of an automotive oil filter, for separating the filter into its components for recycling, and for removing engine waste oil for environmentally safe disposal, characterized by a turntable for rotating a cylindrically shaped filter about its' axis and a knife for severing the casing of the filter as it is rotated. The turntable is rotatable either manually or automatically. The knife is radially adjustable relative to the axis of the turntable. A releasable ratchet pawl spring biased for engagement with a rotatable threaded rod on a slidable knife holder provides for slidable, rotatable adjustment of the knife, and for quick release and retraction of the knife.

  • Patent number: 5133234
Abstract: A cutting device is provided for opening the container of a standard oil filter and comprises a rigid mounting frame; first and second support disks rotatably mounted to the mounting frame, the first support disk including an outer edge which is roughened so as to frictionally grip the oil filter; a handle for rotating the first support disk; and an adjustable, rotating cutting blade, the cutting blade made adjustable by an advancing mechanism such as a screw. The first and second disks and cutting blade are disposed relative to each other so as to support the oil filter when the adjustable cutting blade is properly positioned. The oil filter is then rotated by the handle such that the cutting blade effectively separates the top and bottom portions of the oil filter.

  • Patent number: 5121546
Abstract: A can opener comprising a housing having a handle. There is a cutting wheel with a cutting edge for severing a can wall, the cutting wheel defining a cutting wheel axis. There is a traction wheel having a gripping surface to engage a can, the traction wheel defining a traction wheel axis. A pair of spindles rotatably mount the traction wheel and the cutting wheel in the housing such that their axes are substantially perpendicular and the wheels are positioned adjacent and spaced apart from each other to define a gap adapted to accept a can to be opened. One of the wheels is movable toward the other to close the gap thereby engaging and locking the can between the cutting wheel and the traction wheel such that the cutting wheel acts to sever the can wall and the traction wheel acts to move the can past the cutting wheel. In order to close the gap, a fixed thrust surface associated with the housing, and a spaced, adjacent movable thrust surface associated with the movable wheel are provided.

The grip block is provided with a latch. Squeezing of the scissor handle toward the grip handle with pivot the grip block to position the feed wheel relative to the cutter for penetration of the can lid and lock the grip block into this position. Subsequent release and squeezing of the scissor handle will drive the feed wheel undirectionally for advancing the can lid past the cutter.

  • Patent number: 4726119
Abstract: A can opener includes an operating rotary handle body incorporating a rotary serrated clamping head to clamp a projecting edge joint of a can against a cutting disc. The clamping head is mounted on an eccentric shaft which is driven by a central shaft of the handle body through gears in which the driven gear incorporates a means for moving axially the clamping head to a clamping position. Upon rotation of the handle body, the clamping head clamps a projecting edge joint of a can against the cutting disc, and the cutting disc severs the edge joint.
