Patent number: 6964097Abstract: The present invention is a shaving apparatus that includes a razor cartridge having one or more razor blades, a housing, a flexible bladder, and a handle having an interior cavity and an actuator. The housing includes an exterior surface that is adjacent the razor cartridge and includes one or more ports. The housing is attached to an open end of the flexible bladder such that the one or more ports are in fluid communication with the contents of the flexible bladder. The flexible bladder stores a flowable shaving aid material and is disposed within an interior cavity in the handle. The actuator is operable to collapse the flexible bladder, thereby forcing the flowable shaving aid material from the flexible bladder to the one or more ports. Once the flowable shaving aid material exits the ports, it is dispensed on the surface being shaved adjacent the razor cartridge.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2003Date of Patent: November 15, 2005Assignee: Eveready Battery Company, Inc.Inventors: John Franzini, David Roche, Andrew Pennella

Patent number: 5903978Abstract: A razor caddy receives a razor handle suitable for supporting a razor cartridge. The top and bottom handle surfaces have a continuous index finger profile when gripped on the top surface of the razor handle. The razor handle has a widened portion proximate to a proximate end, and side portions of the razor handle form a concave profile between the proximate end and the distal end. The side portions also form a widened portion at the distal end. The index finger profile of the razor handle defines a detail and a normal shaving position structure in combination with the handle top and bottom surface. First and second elastomeric gripping portions are each positioned on the bottom of the handle. The detail shaving position is achieved by the first gripping portion having a defined thumb engaging area proximate to the proximate end, with the elastomeric material defining correct thumb placement. The second gripping area is positioned near the distal end of the handle.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 1997Date of Patent: May 18, 1999Assignee: American Safety Razor CompanyInventors: Frank H. Patent number: 5894670Abstract: A shaving system with two main components: an electric shaver and a remote device which has a display unit for presenting specific data to the user. The remote device may further comprise a mirror. The mirror and the display unit may be combined to form a single unit. The display unit may be incorporated in the mirror, which for this purpose may be implemented as a partly transparent mirror with the display unit mounted on the backside of the mirror. Additionally, the remote device may perform the function of charging stand for a rechargeable battery of the shaver. In that case the remote device has a docking bay for receiving the shaver. The shaver's battery is charged via electrical contacts between the remote device and the electric shaver, or by means of coils in the remote device and the shaver. The display unit displays status information of the shaver and provides feedback to the user during shaving.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 1997Date of Patent: April 20, 1999Assignee: U.S. Philips CorporationInventors: Takeshi Iso, Teruo Hishiki

Patent number: 5862816Abstract: A personal mirror constructed of a planar member having a reflective surface on a front face of a rectangular main body, a first flange extending rearward from a top edge of the main body at an acute included angle, and a suction-type attachment mechanism provided on the first flange and facing rearward to enable mounting of the mirror to a nonporous surface. A second flange may extend forward from a bottom edge of the main body and include at least one hole for receiving the handle of an accessory such as a razor, the hole being formed smaller than a head of the razor to allow the razor to hang from the flange. The planar member may be thermoplastic with the main body and first and second flanges integrally formed with first and second bends, respectively, therebetween. The bend between the second flange and the planar member is an obtuse angle and matched to the acute angle of the first bend so that the second flange extends generally horizontally when the mirror is wall-mounted.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 1997Date of Patent: January 26, 1999Assignee: Lowe Technology ProductsInventor: John R. Patent number: 5638601Abstract: An improved shaver includes a plate having a substantially flat spreading surface for spreading shaving cream or gel onto an area to be shaved to form a thin substantially uniform layer of shaving cream or gel. The substantially flat spreading surface is preferably as wide as the shaving head and long enough to avoid the shaving cream foam flowing over the bottom of the plate. The shaver preferably includes a chamber for storing the shaving cream and a mechanism for dispensing it onto the substantially flat spreading surface at a preselected rate. The substantially flat surface can include flat parallel projections that are spaced apart from each other. These projections facilitate spreading of the cream or gel. The substantially flat spreading surface can be subdivided into a plurality of articulated panels which can be folded over the shaving head to protect the razor blade.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 1995Date of Patent: June 17, 1997Inventors: Jan M.
