    Abstract: Brake modulators for parking brake systems of work vehicles are provided. A brake modulator includes a housing defining a fluid chamber, an auxiliary chamber, a fluid inlet channel, and a fluid outlet channel. The brake modulator further includes a piston disposed within the housing between the fluid chamber and the auxiliary chamber. The piston is movable between a first position wherein the fluid chamber has a first volume and a second position wherein the fluid chamber has a second volume greater than the first volume. The brake modulator further includes a biasing element providing a biasing force on the piston towards the first position, a rod extending between a first end disposed within the housing and a second end disposed exterior to the housing, and a handle connected to the second end of the rod. The rod is manually actuatable to move the piston between the first and second positions.

The force required to hold down the plunger pistons (78) in their initial position can be applied mainly pneumatically. A ventilatable chamber (M2) of the vacuum servo drive (20) being connected for that purpose with the ventilatable working chamber (B2) of a vacuum brake power booster (32 ).

    Abstract: A dual circuit brake valve is provided with a delivery differential control mechanism which controls the differential between the delivery pressures of the primary and secondary braking circuits. The delivery differential control mechanism includes a spring retainer which is mounted on the end of the stem of the relay valve and which receives a spring-biased plunger. The plunger engages with the actuating member during the brake application to thereby transfer the force of the spring to the relay member and therefore to the valve members of the secondary circuit. This transfer of the spring force reduces the crack open pressure of the valve members controlling communication through the secondary circuit, to thereby reduce the differential between the pressures generated and the primary and secondary circuits.

    Abstract: Dual circuit pressure control valves for brake system are known in which the control pistons are located parallel to each other with each control piston controlling a different one of two brake circuits. Both control pistons are loaded by a common preloading force. The known arrangement is complicated in its construction and has a large overall length. According to the present invention, the construction is simplified and the overall length is reduced by providing a torsion spring which provides the preloading force acting on the control pistons via stationarily supported swivelling levers.

    Abstract: Dual circuit brake force control units are known in which the initial preloading force is changeable dependent on the vehicle load. The preloading force is distributed to the control pistons by means of a lever. Due to the tolerances and erosion of the individual elements, considerable differences in pressure in both brake circuits may occur. Therefore, according to the present invention a lever is provided which directly acts on both control pistons and which is rotatable around an axis parallel to the direction of displacement of the control pistons and additionally around the longitudinal axis of the lever. The lever is in interaction with its housing mount at one support point at least and at two support points at the most with the support point or support points being located at least approximately in the longitudinal axis of the lever.

    Abstract: A hydraulic control system, for at least one hydraulic braking circuit, comprising a control unit, a brake pedal, an assisting hydraulic pressure plant having a fluid pressure source and a reservoir, a distributor valve having a slide fitted movably in the control unit between a rest position, when the braking circuit connects with the reservoir, and an active position, when the braking circuit is pressurized. This slide is urged in one direction by the pedal and in the opposite direction by the pressure in the braking circuit. The slide moves only about a millimeter, and to give the driver a resonable pedal displacement, a first resilient device, in the form of either stepped parallel or in series helical springs or an elastomer block, is disposed between the pedal and slide.

A piston and shuttle are movable within the housing to control communication between the ports. The shuttle carries a seal member which, in the closed position, is in sealing relation with both the piston and the housing, thereby closing communication between the supply and delivery ports and between the delivery and exhaust ports. There are means to vent pressure buildup behind the shuttle seal thereby preventing accidental blowout of the seal.
