Patent number: 10874987Abstract: A proportioning valve for a reverse osmosis system that controls the production of product water by the differential pressure across the purification membrane. By sensing increasing tank pressure to actuate the proportioning valve, the flow of waste water is restricted. Placement of seals within the cavity of the valve, as well as placement of waste water inlet and outlet ports, protects tension components that provide reverse tank pressure from waste water exposure. A needle valve assembly responsive to an actuating assembly that senses tank pressure removes the need for an inlet tank water port while restricting water flow.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2019Date of Patent: December 29, 2020Assignee: Ecowater Systems LLCInventor: Michael J. Patent number: 9346449Abstract: A fault warning method of an electric parking brake is provided. The fault warning method includes, a brake is actuated with a motor. An armature current is transmitted from the motor. The armature current is converted to a low frequency current and a high frequency current. A braking force is estimated by the by the low frequency current, and a motor rotating speed is estimated by the high frequency current. The braking force is compared with a predetermined braking force range, and a braking force comparing signal is outputted. The motor rotating speed is compared with a predetermined rotating speed range, and a rotating speed comparing signal is outputted. A determining result is generated by determining the braking force comparing signal and the rotating speed comparing signal. And a warning signal is generated according to the determining result.Type: GrantFiled: December 25, 2014Date of Patent: May 24, 2016Assignee: Automotive Research & Testing CenterInventors: Liang-Cheng Chang, Jiun-Jie Chen, Shih-Chieh Huang

Patent number: 8692499Abstract: Disclosed is a method for controlling an electro-mechanical brake system including a cascade controller, in which a position controller, a speed controller and a current controller are integrated to control a motor. The method includes determining whether an actual speed of a motor exceeds a command speed of the motor in an early stage of a motor operation; and restricting speed reduction of the motor until a braking force is generated if the actual speed of the motor exceeds the command speed of the motor in the early stage of the motor operation. Speed reduction of the motor is restricted until braking force is generated even if a speed error (actual speed of the motor>command speed of the motor) occurs in the early stage of the motor operation in the EMB system, thereby improving the braking responsiveness.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 2011Date of Patent: April 8, 2014Assignee: Mando CorporationInventor: Myoung June Kim

Patent number: 8050836Abstract: A method for determining whether a panic braking maneuver has been initiated in a vehicle with a brake pedal includes the steps of receiving brake pedal travel data, receiving brake pedal force data, determining a rate of change of acceleration of the brake pedal from the brake pedal travel data, determining a rate of change of acceleration of force applied to the brake pedal from the brake pedal force data, comparing the rate of change of acceleration of the brake pedal with a first predetermined value and a third predetermined value, and comparing the rate of change of acceleration of force applied to the brake pedal with a second predetermined value and a fourth predetermined value.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 2007Date of Patent: November 1, 2011Assignee: GM Global Technology Operations LLCInventors: Timothy M. Patent number: 5259195Abstract: The subject invention relates to a fluid pressure intensifier (32) for increasing the pressure of an incompressible fluid and comprises a fluid reservoir (112) supplying fluid to a cylinder housing (72). The housing (72) includes first inlet (88) and outlet (90) cylinders extending between opposite ends (74,76) of the housing (72) and slideably receiving first inlet (96) and outlet (100) pistons therein. Second inlet (92) and outlet (94) cylinders are spaced parallel to the first cylinders (88,90) and further extend between the housing ends (74,76) for slideably receiving second inlet (98) and outlet (102) pistons therein. The first pistons (96,100) are forced in unison axially through the housing (72) to increase the pressure of the hydraulic fluid in the first outlet cylinder (90).Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 1992Date of Patent: November 9, 1993Inventor: William L. Patent number: 4179165Abstract: A modulating valve for railroad car brake cylinders to adapt them for operation with composition brake shoes, in the form of an assembly comprising a bracket plate arranged for connection in the brake cylinder pipe, at a convenient location between the brake cylinder and the AB control valve, in place of a portion of the brake cylinder pipe removed for that purpose, and a modulating valve mounted on the bracket plate and in communication with the brake cylinder pipe and brake cylinder to limit the fluid pressures supplied to the brake cylinder so that composition brake shoes will deliver the proper brake applying force to the truck wheels without interferring with proper operation of existing brake control equipment.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 1978Date of Patent: December 18, 1979Inventors: William R.
