Abstract: A brake control system has a manual fluid pressure source and a power fluid pressure source. A fluid pressure actuator forms an X-pipe having a first channel and a second channel. The power fluid pressure source supplies the operating fluid to each wheel by using the first channel and the second channel. A channel system including the first channel and a channel system including the second channel can be isolated from each other by an isolation valve. The fluid pressure actuator includes a regulation unit configured to regulate a state of supplying the operating fluid such that a difference between a state occurring when the operating fluid is supplied to one of the first channel and the second channel after passing through the isolation valve, and a state occurring when the operating fluid is supplied to the other channel without passing through the isolation valve, is reduced.

Abstract: Systems and methods of overriding a conventional trailer emergency brake system to preclude and alert others as to inadvertent or premature movement of the trailer are described herein. One implementation includes a safety valve operatively positioned in the emergency braking system of a trailer that may be engaged to override the brake valve located in a tractor to prevent a truck driver from prematurely or inadvertently moving the trailer. In addition, the system may include a one way check valve to allow hydraulic fluid upstream of the safety valve to bleed out of the brake system when the safety valve is closed (to prevent movement of the trailer) before the emergency brakes for the trailer are set by the driver. A communication system may also be provided to alert the driver via a remotely located computing device that the emergency brakes for the trailer need to be set.

Abstract: The invention relates to a hydraulic braking system having a device for controlling brake slip, drive slip, and/or the driving stability of a vehicle. Among other things, such devices use pumps, valves, and reservoirs to control brake pressure in the wheel brakes in accordance with wheel slip occurring at the particular wheels. These components are in contact with each via a hydraulic circuit. The hydraulic circuit is built into a hydraulic block that has spaces for installing the components and channels for hydraulic contact. The invention makes possible a particularly compact and reduced-weight design of the hydraulic block and at the same time low manufacturing costs. For this purpose an advantageous layout and sealing of channels relative to each other and to the surrounding area is provided.

Abstract: A braking system for a combined tractor-trailer assembly wherein a leading trailer is coupled to a towing tractor and a trailing trailer is coupled to the leading trailer. All of the wheels of the trailers are provided with brakes which may be applied and released in response to the operation of a brake control pedal operated by a driver in the tractor. The brakes also may be applied to the trailing trailer whenever the latter is parked. The brakes of the trailing trailer normally are maintained in applied condition by a spring assisted mechanism when such trailer is parked. Such mechanism normally is disabled by pressurized fluid when the trailer is in service and the pressured fluid is accessible via a valve which simultaneously enables the parking brakes and service brakes simultaneously to be coupled to and uncoupled from the pressure fluid system.

Abstract: A method for controlling a vehicle wheel brake that includes applying a pulse width modulated voltage to an isolation valve located between a master brake cylinder and the wheel brake to develop a differential pressure across the isolation valve that is applied to the wheel brake. The differential pressure is a function of the duty cycle of the applied voltage. Because the operation of the isolation valve allows a flow of fluid through the valve, changes in the master cylinder pressure are passed through the isolation valve to the wheel brake.
