Abstract: Collapsible structures are provided with enhancements and other features that impart additional utility or amusement value to the basic underlying structure. The collapsible structure has at least one foldable frame member having a folded and an unfolded orientation, and with a fabric material covering portions of the frame member to form a panel when the frame member is in the unfolded orientation. An electrical component can attached to the fabric material, and an electrical coupling connected to the electrical component. Alternatively, a two-dimensional or three-dimensional object can be attached to the fabric material.

Abstract: An enclosure for a data storage system comprises at least first and second cast magnesium parts joined by rivets, each of which is made of a suitable material that provides compressive strength superior to that of the cast magnesium. Each rivet is of a height or thickness equal to the sum of the thickness of the parts to be riveted. Each such rivet has flat end surfaces and its body is peripherally concave between its ends. The rivet is embedded in the two parts, and the parts flow radially against the concave body of the rivet. No drilling is required, and the parts are held in carefully defined position while being joined, so that the assembled enclosure satisfies strict dimensional tolerances.

Abstract: A support member for use with an article of furniture has cable management capabilities. The support member comprises an elongate leg member defined by a wall to form an elongate inner cavity therein. Preferably, the leg member has a substantially circular lateral cross-section. The wall has a slot therethrough providing access to the inner cavity. The slot has first and second ends where each end of the slot is spaced from its respective end of the elongate leg member. An access panel is hingedly attached to the support member to cover only an intermediate portion of the slot. The access panel is moveable between a closed position and an open position. In the closed position, the access panel limits access to the inner cavity through the intermediate portion of the slot. In the open position the access panel allows access to the inner cavity along the entire length of the slot.

Abstract: A folding table or desk includes a table top, a pair of spaced apart legs, and a wire management structure pivotably mounted to the table top and located between the legs. The wire management structure includes a front panel assembly having an opening, and an access member is pivotably mounted to the front panel assembly for movement between an open position, a closed position and a collapsed position. The front panel assembly can be folded against the underside of the table top and the access member can be pivoted to its collapsed position relative to the front panel assembly, and the legs are foldable over the wire management structure to provide a compact envelope for the folded components of the table assembly. The front panel assembly includes a cross brace member which is engageable with the legs when the wire management structure is in its operative extended position, to impart rigidity to the table assembly.

The front has an open area through which the television, or another desired item, is exposed and accessible when the front is in a closed position. Abstract: A equipment mounting metal plate to be attached to a wall comprises a receiving shelf for placing a lower face of an electronic equipment case, a mounting base plate from which the receiving shelf is projected, and a fixing part for fixing the electronic equipment case to the receiving shelf. The equipment mounting metal plate is provided with an upper and a lower fitting pieces for fitting equipment extension metal pieces which install a second electronic equipment case in front of the wall overlaid on the first electronic equipment case. Additional installation of the electronic equipment case is conducted by attaching the equipment extension metal pieces to the upper and lower fitting pieces and attaching a second equipment mounting metal plate having the same structure to the equipment extension metal pieces. Thus, a plurality of the electronic equipment cases can be overlaid and installed in front of the wall.

Abstract: A modular office system incorporating tubular beams forming the structure of the furniture and facilitating the running of electrical, phone and computer wiring through the tubular beams. In order to provide entry and exit from the tubular beams for the wiring, plastic grommets are mounted within openings in the tubular members. The grommet includes a frame mounted to the tubular member and having an oval opening. A closure member is mounted within the opening of the frame. The closure includes a pair of flaps which selectively facilitate passing of wire through the grommet. The flaps are connected to a center portion by a living hinge allowing the flaps to be moved inwardly to open a portion of the grommet opening.

Abstract: An article of furniture including a leg or legs having wire management capabilities whereby the leg includes channels open along their length and slots at one end of each channel. Each slot extends for the length of each channel so that wires may be disposed in each channel through the slot. The leg further includes flexible members, each flexible member having a rigid, first side fixedly attached to one end of each slot and a flexible second side extending to cover each slot. The second side of the flexible member may be pushed inwardly into either channel opening so that the wires may be laid into the channel through the slot.

Abstract: Computer facilities and computer storage systems for such facilities. In one embodiment, a computer storage system for a co-location computer facility comprises a rack, a first cable guard and at least a first computer storage unit. The rack can comprise a first upright having a first height and a second upright spaced laterally apart from the first upright. The cable guard can be attached to the first upright, and the cable guard can be an enclosure extending along the first upright for at least a portion of the first height of the rack. The cable guard can also include a lockable door on a first side of the enclosure. The first computer storage unit can have several different configurations. In one embodiment, the first computer storage unit comprises a first rigid case removably attached to the first and second uprights, a first door movably attached to the first case, and a first lock attached to the first door. The first case generally has a second height less than the first height of the first upright.

Abstract: A cabinet for a workspace definition system is provided which comprises a housing defined by a rear wall, a pair of side walls, a top wall and a bottom wall interconnected together to form an integral unit surrounding an interior chamber. One of the top wall, the rear wall and the side walls further comprises a port, and a length of electrical/data conduit extends through the port into at least one of the rear wall, the side walls, and the interior chamber of the cabinet. One of the top wall, the rear wall and the side walls can also have an electrical/data receptacle mounted therein and accessible from the outside of the cabinet. The electrical/data conduit is thereby passed into the walls and the interior chamber of the cabinet in a concealed manner to provide operability to components stored within or adjacent to the cabinet.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a portable data processing device comprising an exchanging mechanism for alternatively concealing the data processing device or the handle thereof. By means of the exchanging mechanism, the data processing device and the handle thereof can be alternatively exposed to the outside during the working status or portable status. In addition to the advantage of easy portability, the design that the data processing device and the handle thereof are accommodated within the same space is also advantageous of reducing the space occupied by the data processing device and protecting the data processing device in the portable status.

Abstract: A telecommunication, data including audio and visual data, and electrical station which can be permanently mounted within an aperture formed in a board room table includes a container having a perimeter flange which supports the station within the table. The container also has separate compartments for electrical plug-ins and data and telecommunication jacks. The upper face of the compartments are tilted toward the user for ease of attaching plugs and jacks. A lid pivots between a closed position flush and coplanar with the table surface and an open position fully rotated below the surface of the table so as to permit unrestricted access by the user to the interior of the station.

Abstract: A table construction includes a base having a pair of legs secured together by a transverse beam, and a tabletop pivoted to a top of the legs for movement between a horizontal use position and a vertical storage position. A pair of support arms are pivoted to the top of the legs for selectively holding the tabletop in the horizontal use position. The support arms are spring-biased and pivoted at an angle so that they counterbalance a weight of the tabletop during its pivotal movement. Ganging connectors on opposite ends of the tabletop automatically interconnect adjacent tables upon pushing adjacent tables together. The legs each include first and second castings that bolt together and that are arranged to matably nest when tables are moved together for storage. A utility raceway structure attached to the base includes a frame that defines upper and lower chambers and further includes upper and lower lockable doors providing separate access to the upper and lower chambers, respectively.

Abstract: A storage cabinet includes a housing having at least one exterior port, at least one interior port positioned above the exterior port, and a convection passageway connecting the exterior port and the interior port such that warm air will rise within the passageway by natural convection from the exterior port to the interior port. The cabinet also includes at least one drawer received within the housing and moveable between a closed position wherein a storage space within the drawer is inaccessible from outside the housing, and an open position wherein the drawer extends out of the housing such that the storage space is accessible. The drawer has at least one inlet for allowing airflow to pass from the interior port of the housing to the storage space of the drawer when the drawer is in the closed position. Another storage cabinet provided by the present disclosure includes a housing and at least one drawer received within the housing and moveable between a closed position and an open position.

Abstract: An improved conduit has a cross sectional profile which generally provides an elongate support structure having at least one anchoring structure extending from the support structure to engage any groove on a base board structure to enable the conduit to be “snapped” into a place of consistent support. Generally, the conduit will be pushed down directly against the support structure to enable the support structure to either become anchored or to flex against and secure the engagement of the anchoring structure. A flange portion support structure extends from a conduit portion and has an offset with respect to at least a portion of the conduit portion and the flange portion to form an accommodation for stacking adjacent ones of the conduit.

Abstract: A conference table includes a large elongated work surface having one or more elongated central openings dividing the work surface into opposing half sections, with each opposing half section including work areas large enough for a conference meeting. A utility distribution system is positioned below the elongated central opening on a support channel. The support channel defines separated wireways for communicating separated utilities along the support channel, such as power wiring, telecommunication wiring, and network or video cabling. The utility distribution system further includes a plurality of W-shape utility modules positioned on beams of the support channel below the elongated central opening. The utility modules set end-to-end in an arrangement that facilitates initial installation and later retrofit or repair.

Abstract: A transmission media patch panel modular cabinetry system for interconnecting transmission media includes at least one patch panel having a plurality of jacks mounted thereto with each of the jacks being configured to mate with a patch cord. First and second closet modules are attached to at least one of the patch panels. Each of the closet modules preferably incorporate an upright, a raceway, and an access channel, with each of the raceways formed adjacent at least one of the patch panels. The access channels, which are formed between the uprights, and the raceways are sized and shaped to pass transmission media therethrough. Doors for selectively providing access to the raceways also can be provided.

Abstract: An isolating plate (10) and insulated bolt assembly (51) for electrically insulating a cabinet (22) for holding telecommunications switching equipment. The isolating plate (10) functions as an installation template to assist an installer with locating and installing cabinets (22) in a telecommunications center. The precut cable ways (12) and mounting holes (14) allow the installer to quickly locate and cut the floor as needed for cables (15) and bolts (26) required to install the cabinet (22).

Abstract: A cable conduit for a switchgear cabinet, having a rack assembled from rack legs, at least a part of which have several profiled sides on an inside facing an interior, which extend at an angle with respect to each other and to a diagonal line of the rack and have a row of fastening receivers, wherein the cable conduit has a U-shaped profiled receiving section with a base leg and two lateral legs and can be closed by a cover section, which can be locked on the lateral legs. A dependable attachment of the cable conduit with an optimal cable reception space is achieved because the base leg of the profiled receiving section is matched to at least a portion of the contour defined by the profiled sides of the inside of a frame leg, or the profiled sides of the insides of two frame legs which are connected with each other, and can be connected with the profiled sides.

Abstract: A portable, wooden computer desk is disclosed, comprising an all wood computer desk that can be quickly and easily assembled without the use of tools or separate fastening devices. A continuous feed paper slot is provided to facilitate use of continuous feed paper. Holes are provided on the work surface for use of lamps and similar electric appliances. Electric cord indentations provide a way to place the present invention against a wall without damaging the electric cords of computer components.

The trader desk includes at least three worksurfaces including a pair of outer worksurfaces defining two opposed user accessible elongate edges. The trader desk also includes at least one central worksurface positioned above the storage area and between the outer worksurfaces. The worksurfaces are engagable with the frame at a plurality of heights whereby the worksurfaces are selectively positionable at a plurality of heights. At least one access opening is provided for passing cables from the storage area to an upper surface of the central worksurface.

The latch is movable between a latched position and an unlatched position with respect to a flange portion of the chassis in a direction generally parallel to a longitudinal axis of the latch. A plurality of contoured resilient members are mounted between the latch and the access panel for biasing the latch to the latched position. A contoured portion of one of the resilient members is inverted from a contoured portion an adjacent one of the resilient members.

Abstract: A grommet adapted to be placed through an aperture in a work surface, such as a desk. A lip, with a diameter larger than the aperture in the work surface, is located at the top of the housing, or body of the grommet, so that the lip rests over the aperture in the desk while the housing of the grommet passes through the aperture, so that the great majority of the grommet lies below the surface of the work surface. The grommet contains a plurality of electrical plugs and/or a plurality of data modular couplers for communication terminals so that power and communications wires may be passed over the lip of the grommet and down into the housing to be connected inside of the grommet. The grommet has a power wire connected near the base of the grommet, for connection to a power source, such as a wall plug. Communication and data wires connect to a communication source, such as a telephone plug.

Abstract: A wire manager for cables to electronic equipment on a table work surface. A bin with a removable cover is secured along an edge of the work surface. A bin divider defines longitudinally extending front and rear channels for power and data cables. Holes in the rear wall of the bin and in the cover adjacent the rear wall allow cables to be directed from the bin to electronic equipment on the work surface. The divider has a horizontal section spaced above the bottom wall of the bin to shield the data cables from power cables passing above the horizontal section to an opening and the work surface. The wire manager is mounted on bin supports secured to the underside of the work surface.

Abstract: An electrical raceway assembly for use with a structure is provided. The elongated raceway is engageable to the structure and has a length, a transverse base and a pair of opposite upstanding sidewalls extending along the length to define at least one channel configured for retaining electrical wires. A locking element secures and detachably engages the raceway to a surface of the structure. In one embodiment, the locking element includes a mounting plate, a stud, a core, and a locking lever. The stud has a threaded first end, an opposite second end, and a shoulder between the first and second end. The threaded first end is insertable through an opening defined in the mounting plate to engage a threaded hole in the surface of the structure. The core has a rounded outer surface and defines a thru-hole for receiving the second end of the stud. The locking lever includes a handle portion and a rounded camming portion.

Abstract: Arrangements of modular furniture may be set in place and computer equipment may then be cabled together without moving any module of the arrangement. Modules include a base having file storage, a base having computer power controls, and a base supporting a desk. Each module may provide a wiring access opening on each side to define an aligned wiring passage through as many base modules as needed for a particular arrangement. Exposed wiring access openings may be disguised by a sliding plate that completes the trim of the base, covers the opening, and conceals the fact that an opening exists.

Abstract: Provided is an article of furniture. The article of furniture comprises a horizontal member connected to a vertical support. The horizontal member has a slot and a slot cover, wherein the slot cover (such as slidable tiles) allows for an uncovered portion of the slot and wherein the uncovered portion is relocatable to at least two different locations. The uncovered portion is sized to receive an electrical cord of an apparatus supported by the horizontal member, and the horizontal member is placed directly against a wall. An optional vertical member, such as a back panel of a desk has its own passageway and passageway cover similar to the slot and the slot cover of the horizontal member.

Abstract: The invention relates to a back column for controlling and guiding the cabling of an entertainment center. The back column has a panel having two wings and a face board attached to the two wings. Each wing extends the panel first in an angular direction towards the entertainment center then extends the panel parallel to the entertainment center. The back column has cutouts through which cabling may pass. Other features are disclosed.

Abstract: An enhanced telecommunications cabinet assembly for enclosing wiring interconnections includes a chassis defining an interior cavity, a movable interconnect management adapter tray positioned in the interior cavity of the chassis, a plurality of modular interconnect panels mounted on the movable adapter tray, and front and top covers on the chassis. The chassis has a bottom wall and a pair of opposite sidewalls extending upward therefrom so as to define the interior cavity between the sidewalls and above the bottom wall. The chassis further has a pair of lower guide members positioning the movable adapter tray in the interior cavity of the chassis for movement relative thereto.

Abstract: A display for a plurality of electrical fixtures, such as lighting fixtures. The display includes a slat board type mounting panel having a plurality of elongated generally horizontal grooves in the front surface thereof. A plurality of mounting plates are provided having flanges that are adapted to be retained within the grooves of the slat board for removably supporting the mounting plates on the front surface of the panel. An electrical wire is secured to the plates. A male plug attached to one end of the wire. A retainer is provided on opposite sides of the mounting panel to support the panel. The retainer has a U shaped channel therein. A series of electrical receptacles are mounted within the channel. The plug may be inserted into the receptacles for providing electrical power to the mounting plates. The retainer includes an opening therein that mates with the grooves of the slat board.

Abstract: A desk system utilizing a plurality of stanchions that extend into and support overhead cabinets. The system includes a support structure comprising a plurality of support panels to which the stanchions are mounted. The stanchions extend through openings in the work surface and through openings in the lower panel of the overhead cabinet. The stanchions are mounted by means of fasteners to the inside rear corners of the overhead cabinet. The support structure also includes a lower raceway for running electrical and communication wiring, and this raceway is in communication with raceways defined within the stanchions by means of removable cover plates.

Abstract: A storage bin for storage and containment of cabling associated with work-related items such as computers, telephones and the like. The storage bin is mountable generally along a terminal edge of a furniture component such as a worksurface, so that cabling can be routed from atop the worksurface downwardly into a hollow interior of the bin. The storage bin additionally includes pairs of overlapping side walls at each end of the bin which are movable relative to one another to enable opening and closing of the bin when mounted on the worksurface.

Abstract: A computer desk device provides a back board that is arranged on the rear side of a desktop on which a computer is to be installed. A common power supply cable and common network cable which are to be connected to the computer are accommodated in the back board, thus removing the need for construction work for wiring on the floor or below the floor surface and achieving a reduction in the labor and expense of wiring as well as a great reduction in the amount of time needed for wiring.

Abstract: A desk or worksurface arrangement is provided which has a cable management slot along a back edge of the worksurface wherein removable end caps enclose the opposite ends of the slot. The caps retain cabling within the cable management slot but are removable without tools to permit the cabling to be slid out of the slot or past horizontally to an adjacent desk. The end caps may also be fixedly attached to a vertical storage unit to connect the vertical storage unit to the top of the desk arrangement while permitting the vertical storage unit to be removed from the desk without requiring tools.

Abstract: An equipment arrangement for switch, computer and server cabinets or racks comprises a monitor/flat screen, a keyboard and a signal switch in a common slide-in module or in two individual slide-in modules. The monitor/flat screen can be pivoted up or folded out in an extracted operating position. In the case of a module having one height unit of the 19 inch design the signal switch is positioned between the keyboard and the monitor/flat screen. In the case of a common module with a height of approximately two height units or two separate modules having in each case a maximum height of one height unit, the keyboard and signal switch are located in one plane and above the latter is located a monitor/flat screen.
