  • Patent number: 8783500
Abstract: A sliding lock mechanism that utilizes a binding bar to prevent movement of a sliding member on a slide rail in at least one direction. A spring mechanism exerts a biasing force on the binding bar to maintain the locked position. The binding bar can be moved to an unlocking position by overcoming the bias of the spring. This then allows movement of the sliding member in two directions on the slide rail. An actuating rod moves the binding bar between the first and second positions. The mechanism can be added to a stowing mechanism for a laptop or other device that can secure different devices with varying widths within a compartment due to a drive spring mechanism. The addition of the locking mechanism allows for greater security of the laptop during periods of vibration and prevents backdriving of the spring mechanism.

Abstract: A storage box comprises a housing with open ends and a tray that slides out either open end and up to at least fifty percent or up to at least sixty percent of the length of the tray may slide out either open end. Latch members operable from either open end of the housing selectively hold the tray in a centered position and can be released to allow the tray to slide out a selected end of the housing. Multiple latch member mating members may be associated with the housing for selective engagement by the latch members to latch the tray in multiple extended positions between the centered position and fully retracted positions out either the first or second open ends. Latch engagement members mounted on the doors engage latches connecting the tray to the housing when the doors are shut to prevent the latches from becoming unlatched when the doors are shut.

  • Patent number: 4639050
Abstract: A trash pail for installation in a cabinet having a swingable door, the cross section of the upper opening of the pail being closed by a lid which is fastened to one cabinet wall bearing the door hinges and which is moved into the open position upon the opening movement of the door which is coupled with a support for the trash pail. The support, upon the opening of the door, displaces the trash pail out of the cabinet below the lid, which remains within the cabinet. The support is formed as an angle member having arms. Within the angular space of the arms a non-circular corner part of the wall of the trash pail at an upper edge rim of the trash pail is complementarily form-lockingly removably suspended over the upper end edge of the arms of the angle member.

  • Patent number: 4614383
Abstract: A cable carrier/retractor for supporting, protecting and guiding a cable to an equipment drawer in a cabinet including a framework while at the same time allowing for addition or removal of cables without any disassembly of the mechanism. The carrier supports a cable from an entry position adjacent to the framework of the drawer to an exit position adjacent to the back panel of the drawer. The carrier generally comprises a first having an entry end for supporting a cable from the entry position to an intermediate position, and a second channel for supporting the cable from an intermediate position to the exit position, a hinged mount connecting the first channel to the frame, and an intermediate hinge for connecting the channels. In a preferred embodiment, a retaining hinge connected to a drawer-mounted slide member or the drawer back panel holds the exit end of the second channel in a position adjacent to the back panel.

  • Patent number: 4501456
Abstract: A rack designed to accommodate several tiers of drawers has a frame spanned by one or more shelves defining a plurality of storage levels each partitioned by at least one upright divider into a plurality of compartments disposed side by side, each compartment having a wide-open front end and a rear end which may be partly obstructed by a low sill allowing an inserted drawer to be rearwardly extracted on being lifted above that sill. A profiled web in an upper zone of the front end of each compartment, projecting from above with a height slightly exceeding that of the sill, coacts with an upper rear flange of the respective drawer to prevent its forward extraction by a sliding motion through enabling such extraction by an upward tilting of the drawer; that web also lets the drawer hang out of its compartment with a slight downward tilt in a forward position. The top of the frame is concave to serve as an open ancillary receptacle.

  • Patent number: 4413868
Abstract: A retractable basket carrier with chain and sprocket mechanism or travel bar mechanism. A mechanism is provided in the alcove of a desk or similar space in a cabinet to move a carrier from an inner hidden position to an extended position which accesses a wastepaper basket or similar item carried by or depending from the carrier. The mechanism may be installed on either side of the opening in the desk for left or right hand operation and is easily placed in position in the desk with a mounting bracket. An actuator mechanism is installed at the front of the desk for extending the carrier by swing arm movement and to provide a stop for the rearward movement of the carrier. Either a ball chain mechanism or a travel arm with hubs is used to move the carrier. A wastebasket or other item may be supported from the carrier by a universal joint and is moved between the extended and inward positions with only a slight amount of force upon the actuating mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4401350
Abstract: A storage system for housing parts such as product packaging parts. The system includes a modular plurality of housings and a drawer for each housing. Each housing includes a top wall and two parallel side walls. The top wall has a plurality of alignment slots adjacent its side walls and alignment tabs extending along the lower portion of the side walls and registering with alignment slots of a housing disposed thereabove. Further, each housing has a recess on its top wall extending through a major portion of its length, and a lateral rail extending opposite the recess from a side wall and arranged to fit the recess of a laterally adjacent housing. Alignment slots on the rail permit to interconnect lateral adjacent housing. Each drawer has a bottom wall and two side walls, as well as a front and rear wall. Each drawer has a downwardly extending front portion for readily holding the drawer and pulling it out. This portion of the drawer handle is also provided with a lock for locking the drawer to its housing.

  • Patent number: 4134629
Abstract: A kitchen cabinet is disclosed which includes a pivot support for supporting a plurality of kitchen cabinet shelves so that the shelves may pivot about a horizontal axis outwardly and downwardly toward the user to an access position for gaining access to the shelves. The shelves are returned to the storage position by pivoting the shelves back up into the storage position. A pivotable and foldable door having upper and lower panels is pivotably supported from the ceiling. The door is actuated by means of mechanical linkages interconnecting the shelving and the door. As the shelving is pivoted from the storage position into the access position, the door, which covers the front side of the shelving, is pivoted upwardly and away from the shelving to permit access thereto. The lower section of the door includes a linkage for folding the lower panel up toward the underside of the upper panel.
