Sliding Selector Patents (Class 312/9.14)
  • Patent number: 8157088
Abstract: A media storage apparatus includes a frame, a shaft, and a plurality of retainers for retaining a plurality of portable planar storage media. The plurality of retainers is supported by the shaft and rotatable about the shaft from a selectable position to a selected position. The apparatus further includes a retainer selection mechanism, coupled to the frame, that traverses the frame to cause selected ones of the plurality of retainers traversed by the retainer selection mechanism to rotate in sequence from the selectable position to the selected position.

  • Patent number: 6860572
Abstract: A storage and retrieval device for compact discs (CD's) that includes a storage box divided into a plurality of CD storage units, each storage unit adapted to hold two CD's. An ejector arm is slidably positioned on, and rotatable about, a pivot rod. The ejector arm has an ejector finger located on its inner end. Upon rotation of the ejector arm about the pivot rod, the ejector finger contacts the lower end of the CD's located within the two CD receiving slots of a selected storage unit, and raises the CD's into position for retrieval.

  • Patent number: 6386655
Abstract: A compact disk storage device has a base and a hinged lid. The inner surfaces of the base and lid each contain arcuate ribs which are parallel to and equally spaced-apart from one another. Each pair of adjacent ribs defines a shallow groove. Each rib in the base has a height which varies along its length. The upper edges of the ribs located near the front edge of the base are generally pointed. The upper edges of the ribs located near the rear edge of the base are generally blunt and shorter than the ribs near the front edge. The lesser cross-sectional dimension of the ribs near the rear edge allows the disk to seat properly in the groove without hindering its alignment.

  • Patent number: 6332656
Abstract: A system for the storage and retrieval of discs (e.g., CDs, DVDs) and the like. An outer housing contains a tiltable inner housing having grooves on upper and lower walls for holding discs by their edges in a vertical orientation. A portal element, formed with a vertical slot for loading and retrieving discs, is movable across the front of the outer housing into alignment with individual disc positions of the inner housing. Flexible shutters are attached to the portal element, maintaining the entire front of the outer housing closed, except for the portal opening. The inner housing has a stable position, tilted slightly to the rear, causing the discs to roll to storage position at the back. A selected disc can be retrieved by tilting the inner housing forwardly, causing the discs to roll forwardly. All discs except the selected disc, aligned with the portal slot, are held back by the flexible shutter, while the selected disc is allowed to roll through the portal slot to an exposed retrieval position.
