    Abstract: Disclosed are a phosphor pattern which comprises a substrate having unevenness and a phosphor layer formed on the inner surface of a concave portion of the substrate, wherein the phosphor pattern thickness ratio (x)/(y) satisfies a range of 0.1 to 1.5, where when the length from the bottom of the concave portion to the top of a convex portion is L (&mgr;m), (x) is a thickness of the phosphor pattern formed on an uneven wall surface at a position of 0.9×L from the bottom of the concave portion toward the top of the convex portion, and (y) is a thickness of the phosphor pattern formed on the uneven wall surface at a position of 0.4×L from the bottom of the concave portion toward the top of the convex portion, and processes for preparing the same.

    Abstract: A photocathode device for use in an image intensifier, fabricated with a photoemissive semiconductor wafer having an active cathode layer which includes a central region of a first predetermined height surrounded by a peripheral region of a second predetermined height. The first predetermined height of the central region is configured to be greater than the second predetermined height of the peripheral region in order to create a recessed contact structure which is less likely to have unwanted emission points. A layer of conductive material covers the peripheral region to provide an electrical contact to the photocathode device. A layer of insulating material covers the layer of conductive material in order to protect the contact layer from being damage during handling operations.

    Abstract: Color filter arrays for color imaging devices are disclosed. The arrays are formed in a single layer of a transparent binder containing at least one cationic photo-bleachable dye. The layer has a thickness less than 10 microns, and the dye is present in the layer in an amount sufficient to impart a density to the layer of at least about 0.5 in that portion of the spectrum in which it selectivity absorbs. A method of making the arrays is also disclosed which includes the steps of (1) forming a layer of a transparent binder containing the photo-bleachable dye or dyes and a sensitizer; (2) exposing the layer to a pattern which represents a set of filter elements so as to photo-bleach the photo-bleachable dye; and (3) fixing the layer by leaching the sensitizer from the layer. In particularly preferred embodiments, the dyes are chosen so that those which absorb at longer wavelengths have a lower bleaching efficiency than those which absorb at shorter wavelengths.

The color imaging device comprises an interlaid pattern having at least two sets of intercepting means, the first set having a different radiation absorption and transmission characteristic from that of the second set.
