Abstract: The invention comprises a method for indicating that an LED flash light for an aircraft such as an anti-collision or beacon or strobe LED light has reached a near-end-of-life status, wherein the LED flash light under normal operational condition within a given time interval generates a predetermined number of normal flashes with the number being one or more than one, e.g. two. The method comprises the steps of determining the actual photometric condition of the LED flash light, and comparing the actual photometric condition to a given condition in a normal flashing mode. If the actual condition deviates from the given condition by more than a predetermined amount, the LED flash light is operated in order to generate within the given time interval one additional near-end-of-life-indicating flash.

Abstract: A monitoring system has integrated exit signs, which preferably have electroluminescent elements. The signs connect to internal wiring of a building, but local power sources can provide emergency power if building power is lost. Controllers on the signs communicate with a central workstation using building wiring and/or wireless communication. The controllers have one or more automated features for monitoring operation of the exit signs and the surrounding environment. These automated components, including an intensity sensor, an ambient light sensor, a temperature sensor, a smoke detector, a camera, a speaker, a microphone, a motion detector, an RFID detector, and the like. Because the signs are widely distributed throughout the building, operators can get detailed information of the building environment, security, fire, smoke, temperature, etc. The exit signs can store this information locally and can communicate useful information using a communication link to the central workstation.

Abstract: A channel detection device is disclosed in specification and drawing, where the channel detection circuit includes a disable circuit, LED pins, receivers and an error detection circuit. The disable circuit sends a disabling pulse to one or some LED pins of the plurality of LED pins, where the one or some LED pins are connected to the disable circuit. Each of the receivers is connected to one of the plurality of LED pins respectively and is capable of outputting an inhibiting signal when the LED pin connected receives the disabling pulse from the disable circuit. The error detection circuit is coupled to the receivers and the LED pins. The error detection circuit is configured to detect open-circuit of some LED pins of the plurality of LED pins, and bypass the detection of open-circuit of some other LED pin of which the receiver outputs the inhibiting signal.

Abstract: The invention relates to automatically configuring of a lighting, particularly to creating a lighting, which follows a person, with a networked lighting system. A basic idea of the invention is to configure lighting in a network of lamps in that a lamp of the network adjusts its light emission depending on presence detection in its own direct environment and the presence detected in the environment of other lamps of the network. An embodiment of the invention relates to a system (10) for automatically configuring a lighting, wherein the system comprises a network of lamps (12), in which every lamp is coupled to a presence detector (14) and can receive signals from other lamps in the network, wherein a received signal indicates an activity detected by the presence detector coupled to the lamp, which transmits the signal, and wherein every lamp adjusts its light emission depending on the signal received from other lamps and the measurement of its presence detector.

Abstract: A high-voltage transformer drive circuit and a high-voltage transformer drive discharge tubes. In at least one example embodiment, a tube current synthesis/high pass filter circuit synthesizes tube currents in the discharge tubes, and extracts a pulse component resulting from arc discharge from the synthesis tube current. A pulse hold circuit holds the extracted pulse component for a predetermined time. A comparator compares an output from the pulse hold circuit with a threshold value, and outputs a signal indicating the presence or absence of the arc discharge. Upon detection of the arc discharge, a logic circuit stops the operation of the high-voltage transformer drive circuit. Thus, arc discharge is detected with high accuracy at low cost.

Abstract: One or more example diagnostics may be implemented as part of an intelligent luminaire manager or other radio frequency (RF) device that is in communication with an equipment or fixture such as a luminaire. Example diagnostics can determine a status such as a fixture malfunction, a cycling condition, a miswiring configuration, or another condition. The determined status can be wirelessly transmitted from the intelligent luminaire manager or other radio frequency device to a network server via a network. The network may be a network of intelligent luminaire managers and/or RF devices.
