Control By Patterns Or Other Predetermined Schedule Means Patents (Class 318/162)
  • Patent number: 4916372
Abstract: Apparatus for activating a safety device hingedly mounted on a shool bus to swing it out to an outstretched position when the bus door is opened and to return the device to its retracted position when the bus door is closed. The system includes a control switch which is caused to close when the door is opened and to open when the door is closed. Associated with the control switch is a control circuit for connecting a DC power supply to a unidirectional DC motor operatively coupled through an eccentric drive and a link arm to the safety device whereby in the course of a single cycle of motor rotation, during one half of the cycle the device is caused to swing out to its fully outstretched position, and during the other half, the device is caused to return to its fully retracted position.

  • Patent number: 4398348
Abstract: A measuring device for measuring the distance of feed of cloth in a sewing machine, comprising a wheel driven by the cloth without slippage and located at the presser foot. A plurality of slits on the wheel are arranged to cooperate with two slits in the bracket of the wheel, and thereby form two light gates producing two output signals in the form of a two bit binary code. This light is detected by photo transistors or photo diodes positioned to receive light through the slits from light emitting diodes or lamps. The output signals from the unit are applied to a data unit connected to compute a positive or negative feed of the cloth. The invention is especially useful when a buttonhole is to be sewn totally automatically.

  • Patent number: 4296365
Abstract: In an automatic screen printing machine of the roller intermittent drive type, errors of feeding of an endless belt by a driving roller are effectively eliminated by preliminarily correcting feed errors owing to unevenness of the thickness and elongation of the endless belt by increasing or decreasing the pulse number representing the repeat length of the endless belt and controlling feeding of the endless belt at every repeat based on the increased or decreased pulse number.

  • Patent number: 3991652
Abstract: An educational device for teaching the principles of numerical control includes a machine tool having three-axis movement with a predetermined fixed rate of movement along each axis. A control tape is driven at a predetermined fixed rate which is faster than the machine rate and contains seven control channels, two for each machine axis and an "off" channel for stopping all movements along each of the three axes. Numerical control programming is effected by punching holes in the relevant tape channels to initiate movements along the axes and terminating such movements by punching holes in the "off" channel. The distances between movement-initiating holes and "off" holes controls machine movement along the axes.

  • Patent number: 3979647
Abstract: An inductively coupled electronic lock system wherein the key has a clock driven variable pulse width generator with alterable pulse sequence input to an inductor. The lock part of the system has an inductive pick-up which discriminates against all but a preselected sequence of pulses, converts the received signals to DC and powers a motor to open the lock.

  • Patent number: 3957188
Abstract: In an apparatus for performing various operations on stock material, such as advancing, feeding, measuring, cutting and the like, all under the control of a program on a punched tape, an improved punched tape control system wherein the sprocket holes, which are utilized for advancing the punched tape, are also utilized to convey control information. Data is placed on the tape in the form of perforations on parallel longitudinal tracks or channels and the conventional tape advancing sprocket holes also carry data to both control the advancing of the stock material and to synchronize the advancing of the stock material and the advancing of the punched tape. Stock material is advanced only when a sprocket hole is present in the tape and the tape is advanced only when the stock material is operated on in accordance with the data on the tape.

  • Patent number: 3934186
Abstract: A program control unit for industrial robots comprising programming means to check instructions from arm-position memory means in which the arm motions are set by means of an arm-position selecting circuit and generates arm-position setting signals and also instruction signals for the grip and the exterior through an instruction signal converter circuit, and a stepping circuit to which are led quick-feed or jumping instructions as well as instructions based on actual arm-position signals, grip and exterior motion signals, and confirmation signals from the programming means, so that the programming means can be allowed to proceed with the processes by said stepping circuit.
