  • Patent number: 6972538
Abstract: The control device includes a switch (12) controlling the power supply to the motor and an actuator which actuates this switch by rotatably reacting against the moving object being restrained so as to cause said switch to be opened and to cut off the power supply to the motor. This actuator consists of a bistable mechanical device (11) capable of taking up a first state in which the switch (12) is closed and a second state in which the switch is open. The actuating device also comprises exclusively manual means, such as a cable (17) for putting the actuating device into its first state, this device being brought into its second state by reacting against the moving object.

Abstract: An operation apparatus is designed for use with a system to deal with operation information of the system. In the operation apparatus, an operation piece is manually operable to move in a linear or circular direction to a position indicative of the operation information. A detection section detects the position of the operation piece and outputs position data corresponding to the detected position. A drive section responds to position data inputted from the system to automatically move the operation piece to a position corresponding to the inputted position data. An acquiring section provisionally acquires a plurality of reference position data which are outputted from the detection section when the operation piece is placed at a plurality of reference positions such that the respective reference position data correspond to the respective reference positions.

Abstract: A method for controlling a vehicle seat adjuster in an adjusting path having a first mechanical stop and a second mechanical stop. A user sets an adjustment position of the adjuster inside the adjusting path. A protective stop is also automatically set in the adjusting path in the vicinity of the mechanical stops or another mechanical block blocking the adjusting path. The protective stop causes the adjusting motion to be reduced or stopped upon reaching of the protective stop. This helps produce a smooth braking of the vehicle seat and reduces the mechanical strain on the mechanical stops. The protective stop may be corrected with an updated protective stop. The updated protective stop is maintained despite any user action if a condition dependent on the adjusting motion of the adjuster is fulfilled. Learning regions within the adjusting path are provided to allow the setting of updated protective stops within the learning regions.

  • Patent number: 6906487
Abstract: An antipinch circuit prevents the motor driven closure of an automotive window if a soft obstacle is compressed between the window and the top of the door frame, and the window is opened in response to the sensing of the obstacle. The circuit measures the motor torque (by measuring motor current) and the motor shaft speed (by measuring motor back EMF). The torque and motor speed are compared to “signatures” of these values in the case of the window closing normally against the top of the door frame, or against an obstacle, and either stopping or reversing the motor rotation accordingly.

Abstract: A detector, that prevents erroneous detection of a foreign object caught in a window glass when the engine of a vehicle is being operated and when the engine is stopped using a relatively simple control method. The detector includes a pulse sensor for detecting rotational speed of a motor. A microcomputer calculates a cycle difference sum based on the rotational speed of the motor. The microcomputer compares the cycle difference sum with a obstruction determination threshold to determine whether a foreign object has been caught. The microcomputer detects whether the engine is stopped. When detecting that the engine is stopped, the microcomputer changes the obstruction determination threshold so that the probability of the microcomputer determining that a foreign object has been caught is lower than that when the engine is being operated.

Abstract: A process for displacing a motor vehicle part between at least two positions and a drive device for executing this process in which the motor vehicle part is driven by an electric motor (10), a pulse signal is generated according to the rotary motion of the electric motor (10) and is supplied to a control unit (24) for controlling the electric motor (10), and the instant of input of each signal on the control unit (24) is acquired. Furthermore, at certain instants, a respective for the change of motor rpm is determined from at least some of these previously measured instants, from each value of the rpm change a force change value (&Dgr;F*[k]) is computed and at least some of the previously determined values of the force change are added up with weighting in order to determine the value for the instantaneous force acting on the moveable motor vehicle part. This value is used as the criterion in deciding whether or not the electric motor (10) is turned off or reversed.

  • Patent number: 6548974
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for monitoring and controlling an electric motor, in particular one that is present on a movable object on a motor vehicle, such as a window or sunroof. The invention resolves the technical problem of reliably recognizing the pinching of a foreign body in the window or sunroof, such that the window or sunroof can be stopped or reversed in time, without the time-consuming calculation of energy balances, closing forces etc and/or the observation of the force development during the time window comprising a complete pinching process. This aim is achieved in that the criterium for stopping or reversing is obtained by comparing the currently measured value of the motor current I(t0) with a reference value Iref, formed from a stored value of motor current I(t−N) taken after a defined amount of motor rotation has occurred, with the introduction of further parameters.

  • Patent number: 6534939
Abstract: An open/close control device for a movable lid is of a highly precise position detection ability by using only a sensor which issues a pulse train in response to a motor rotation amount. When the open/close control device is in the form of a drive unit 3 which controls opening and closing a sunroof, the drive unit 3 includes a motor 3 which drives the sunroof and a control device 10 having a microcomputer 13. The microcomputer 13 is fed with two pulse train signals from two Hall-ICs, respectively. The signals are in proportion to the rotation number of the motor 4 but are different in phase. On the basis of the pulse train signals, the microcomputer 13 counts a position counter 13 for indication of current position of the sunroof in view of the motor rotation direction.

  • Patent number: 6472836
Abstract: A method and apparatus for electrically controlling and regulating the movement of an electrically operated aggregate of a motor vehicle, such as a window lifter or sliding roof. A correlation variable for the adjustment force of the aggregate is measured for the purpose of anti-jamming protection. An adjusting movement is switched off or reversed if the adjustment force exceeds a limit value which corresponds to the maximum permissible jamming force. The sensitivity of the anti-jamming system is automatically raised when the motor vehicle is at a standstill. A rough road filter is preferably deactivated so that in the event of jamming, an adjusting movement is switched off or reversed without any time delay. The highest possible level of safety is provided using anti-jamming protection when the vehicle is at a standstill.
