  • Patent number: 11274675
Abstract: A shaft seal for an exhaust fan. The seal limits leakage from within an exhaust fan housing around an exhaust fan drive shaft that extends between a rotational power source exterior to the exhaust fan housing and a position within the exhaust fan housing. The seal comprises a plenum generally positioned about the exhaust fan drive shaft at the point where the shaft extends into the fan housing; an auxiliary blower comprising a housing, an internal blade driven by an auxiliary blower drive shaft, and an auxiliary blower drive to rotate the drive shaft where the auxiliary blower drive is operatively associated with the rotational power source such that operation of the rotational power sources causes a rotation of the exhaust fan drive shaft and the auxiliary blower drive shaft; and a duct fluidly connecting the auxiliary blower housing to the plenum.

  • Patent number: 8466636
Abstract: An excavator drive system wherein one of a pair of propulsion motors shares one of a pair of inverter power sources with another of a pair of motors dedicated to crowd and hoist motions. A pair of non-volatile bi-state switches, triggered under control of a controller, allow sharing of inverters between hoist and propel 1 motors. Another pair of switches allows inverter sharing between propel 2 and crowd motors. Each pair of switches enables change over and power transfer from one of the paired motors to the other motor. The bi-state switches enable quicker transfer of power between motors than transfer switches employing external motor-powered mechanical transfer linkages. Bi-state transfer switches also maintain transfer coupling status in the event of power failure to the switch actuators, allowing an excavator operator to continue the drive function in operation prior to the switch power failure.

  • Patent number: 6208111
Abstract: An improved motor starter assembly is provided on a frame and having an external profile which matches that or is within that of a prior motor starter is disclosed. The improved motor starter assembly provides a soft start circuit within the profile. Retrofitting of prior art motor starters is accomplished by moving the power fuses and related hardware of an existing medium voltage (2.4 Kv to 7.2 Kv) and installing the new soft start circuit on the frame of the existing motor starter. The retrofitted arrangement mounts the motor fuses horizontally and the vacuum contactors vertically in an arrangement to provide enough space within the external profile to mount the soft start circuit arrangement.
