Digital Comparison Patents (Class 318/601)
  • Patent number: 3962618
Abstract: A following error measurement system for phase analog servo systems is disclosed. The leading or lagging status of a phase analog servo system's command signal with respect to its feedback signal, is used to create a variable width error signal. This variable width error signal controls the counting of modulated command pulses received from the phase analog servo system. Since the frequency of the variable width error signal is proportional to the frequency of the modulated command pulses, the total count is normalized and a pulse weighted count is obtained. In addition, the conditioned variable width error signal controls the transfer of the pulse weighted count to a display system. Because the total count is normalized, the resultant display is also normalized for variations in the rate at which command pulses are applied to the phase analog servo system. Hence the measured following error is displayed.

  • Patent number: 3962620
Abstract: A programmer or switching apparatus produces an ON and OFF valued control signal for turning an associated controlled component ON and OFF at preselected points in the variation range of a reference variable. The apparatus includes a reference transducer for converting the reference variable into a reference signal representing the variable. A pair of set-point devices provide a pair of set-point signals which are compared with the reference signal to define operating points at which the control signal switches between its ON and OFF values. The apparatus has the versatility of allowing, by merely setting the set-point devices and without making any circuit changes, the first transition of the control signal to be either from ON to OFF or from OFF to ON as the reference variable increases from its minimum to its maximum value.

  • Patent number: 3949286
Abstract: A digital position control for linearly moving apparatus driven by a motor includes a command signal generating loop coupled to a motor operative condition control loop. The command signal generating loop provides a digital pulse train signal having frequency characteristics corresponding to the desired accelerations and velocities of the apparatus and a total number of pulses proportional to the desired movement of the apparatus. The motor operative condition control loop employs the command signal to energize the motor in accordance with the frequency and pulse count characteristics of the command signal.

  • Patent number: 3940675
Abstract: A lateral feed position system for a single slide grinder or the like wherein a wheel spindle is displaced between a sequence of preset end points. The end points are input from decade switches as position commands and compared to a current position count in a digital comparator unit. An oscillator is energized to apply up or down count signals to the comparator depending on the result of the comparison. The same signals are applied to a stepper motor. Actual displacement signals from a shaft angle encoder are compared to the position commands to advise a sequencer that the spindle is "in position" so that the next command can be input. Means are provided to adjust the actual position counts to compensate for wheel wear. Specific circuits are disclosed.
