Shaded Pole Motor Patents (Class 318/750)
  • Publication number: 20080079335
Abstract: A brushless DC motor operated by a microcontroller has a unique pole construction that enables it to reliably start and operate as a unipolar device so that a reduced number of electronic power switches can be used to reduce cost and complexity. The microcontroller calculated rotor position to eliminate the need for a separate sensor and thereby further reduce manufacturing cost.

  • Patent number: 5838134
Abstract: A commutator for A.C. shaded pole motors that permits the use of a D.C. source to provide a suitable alternating current that can be adjusted to regulate the rotational speed and compensate for the slip factor. The commutator includes a wave forming circuit that generates two triggering signals with rising and falling time that do not coincide in time. These triggering signals are transmitted to the gates of respective power switching devices to alternatively make a connection to ground of the ends of the motor winding. The motor winding includes a central tap to which a D.C. voltage is applied and the two halves are wound to induce opposite magnetic fields. The magnetic fields will thus avoid fighting or contention.

  • Patent number: 4942323
Abstract: A two pole electric motor is described which includes at least one stator encircling winding which at least partially overlaps the rotor air gap to insure that substantially the entire magnetic field created by such rotor encircling winding is forced to pass through the rotor with minimal leakage or fringe magnetic field bypassing the rotor.

  • Patent number: 4585984
Abstract: An alternating current motor comprising a combination of magnetic frequency tripler and induction rotor. The alternating current motor includes a three-legged core of which two legs serve as input leg having a coil wound thereabout and thereby constitute a linear reactor and a saturated reactor. The two coils are connected in series. The residual one leg serves as output leg which generates magnetic flux having tripled frequency by applying single phase input to the input legs. A rotor is rotatably disposed in the cylindrical gap formed in the output leg. Thus, the rotor is stably rotated at a higher rotational speed equivalent to synchronized speed determined by tripled frequency relative to frequency of alternating current supplied from commercial power supply system.
