Patent number: 5767653Abstract: A circuit for powering a two-phase AC induction motor. The circuit generates a first signal of the form Vdc+A sin(2.pi.ft-0.degree.) and a second signal of the form Vdc+A sin(2.pi.ft-90.degree.). The first signal is input to a first error amplifier along with a first sampled difference signal from the motor. The second signal is input to a second error amplifier along with a second sampled difference signal from the motor. The outputs from each of the first and second amplifiers is input into a first comparator and a second comparator along with a sawtooth waveform to create a first sinusoidally modulated square wave signal and a second sinusoidally modulated square wave signal. The first and second sinusoidally modulated square wave signals are fed to driver circuits which in turn control an H-bridge circuit for powering the motor from a DC bus.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 1995Date of Patent: June 16, 1998Assignee: Micro Linear CorporationInventors: John E. Patent number: 5500582Abstract: A multiphase load control system has switches in electrical series within each of several split sources of phase voltage. In each phase of one implementation, two contactor poles are in series between split sections of a secondary winding of a transformer. The contactor poles are part of one or more contactor units, each of which can have a voltage rating significantly less than the phase voltage provided by the system.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 1994Date of Patent: March 19, 1996Inventor: Donald W. Patent number: 4880391Abstract: A terminal box assembly for use in a dynamoelectric machine adapted to be energized from an electrical power source and including a plurality of windings and each winding terminating in a corresponding lead wire. The lead wires are connectable to each other and to an electrical power source in at least two different configurations for operating the motor from two different voltages. The terminal box assembly includes a plurality of terminations for connection to each of the lead wires and a terminal block having a plurality of apertures for receiving the terminations. A plug device is provided for coupling with the terminal block in at least two different orientations for interconnecting the lead wires of the motor windings. A base member is releasably coupled to the terminal block and includes a latch integral with the base for releasably coupling the terminal block and base member to the dynamoelectric machine.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1988Date of Patent: November 14, 1989Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventor: Jerome P. Patent number: 4878006Abstract: A motor having a capacitor in series with its coil permits the motor to operate at a higher voltage or range of voltages over its design voltage. A method determines the correct value of a capacitor to change the design voltage of a motor to a different operating voltage. A receptacle can be used to receive capacitors of different values to vary the operating voltage of a motor. The receptacle is provided with a capacitor holding device which is marked with the operating voltage set by the capacitor. A timer clock has a motor of a design voltage which can be changed to a plurality of operating voltages. The timer clock can have the receptacle accessible from the exterior with a cover having the operating voltage marked thereon.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 1988Date of Patent: October 31, 1989Inventor: Carl L.
