  • Patent number: 11424458
Abstract: A technique facilitates evaluation of a fluid, such as a fluid produced from a well. The technique utilizes a modular and mobile system for testing flows of fluid which may comprise mixtures of constituents, and for sampling fluids thereof. The multiphase sampling method includes flowing a multiphase fluid comprising an oil phase and a water phase through a first conduit, the oil phase and water phase at least partially separating in the first conduit, mixing together the oil phase and water phase to form a mixed bulk liquid phase by flowing the multiphase fluid through a flow mixer toward a second conduit downstream the flow mixer, sampling a portion of the mixed bulk liquid phase at location at or within the second conduit, wherein the sampled portion of the mixed bulk liquid phase has a water-to-liquid ratio (WLR) representative of the pre-mixed oil phase and water phase.

  • Patent number: 9255849
Abstract: In some embodiments, an apparatus and a system, as well as a method and an article, may operate to receive down hole tool environmental temperature data, axial temperature data, radial temperature data, and log data. Further activity may include applying temperature effects compensation associated with the environmental temperature data and the down hole log data using a fitting function model obtained from a trained neural network to transform the down hole log data into corrected log data. Additional apparatus, systems, and methods are described.

  • Patent number: 4731744
Abstract: A position sensor for a moving member of a mechanical device is disclosed. The sensor includes an optical sensing means such as solid-state image sensor and illuminating means such as a plurality of light-emitting diodes, stationarily mounted to face scribing marks provided on the moving member. The microprocessor controlled image sensor generates a digital signal representative of the scribing marks on the moving member. A cable is provided between the position sensor and a remote digital computer which applies control and command signals to the sensor and receives the digital signal representation of the moving member scribing marks. The image is presented on a CRT screen allowing a human being a remote visual image of the position of the moving member. The remote digital computer also processes the received digital signal from each of the moving members and generates an alarm if the movement is greater than a predetermined amount.

  • Patent number: 4505048
Abstract: A borehole survey instrument is provided which includes a meniscus type floating compass member for indicating azimuth and inclination. A light source is disposed below the indicia for illuminating the indicia upwardly through the liquid in which the compass member floats and a novel lens system is provided for focusing the image of the illuminated compass member upon a film disposed below the compass member and for transmitting illumination to the compass member. The compass member is mounted on a centering post which is of minimum diameter consistent with the required rigidity and which permits high angle compass members to be utilized to indicate angles approaching ninety degrees. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the lens system has a refractive index closely matching that of the liquid surrounding the floating compass member to minimize reflection or refraction at the inner face therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4480391
Abstract: A borehole survey instrument and control circuitry are described. The borehole survey instrument includes indicators for measuring angle of deviation from the vertical and angle of deviation from magnetic north and a photographic recording means for recording the output of the indicators at selected times. A lighting system is utilized in conjunction with the photographic recording means to expose photographic film and a novel time control circuit is utilized in conjunction with the lighting system to alter the length of time of illumination in accordance with the operativeness of individual bulbs within the lighting system. In this manner, the failure of one or more bulbs within the lighting system will not substantially affect the amount of illumination to which the film in the photographic recording means is exposed.

  • Patent number: 4393598
Abstract: A surface activated multishot survey tool utilizes a dampened magnetic compass movably positioned within a probe to determine the direction of a borehole. Lamps in the probe are operable to light the face of the compass. A lens projects the image of the compass onto a movable film strip. An electrical cable is connected to the probe and is used to pass a current to the lamps and provide selective operation of the tool from the surface of the borehole. Electrical connectors are provided at each end of the probe so that the probe may be inverted within the borehole to accommodate surveys in which the angle of the borehole is greater than that at which the compass will operate without error. Because connectors are located at both ends of the probe, electrical current passes around the magnetic compass, thus creating a magnetic field about the compass.

  • Patent number: 4171578
Abstract: A single shot surveying instrument which is designed to be lowered to a desired location in a borehole and to take a single picture which indicates the direction of the borehole. The instrument operates in a first mode in which a picture is taken after the passage of a preselected period of time, which period is selected to allow sufficient time for the instrument to be properly positioned in the borehole. The instrument also operates in a second mode in which a picture is taken after the lapse of the preselected period of time if there is an absence of motion by the instrument during a last portion of the preselected time period. An indicator light on the instrument provides a check for premature operation of the instrument and for operability of the motion sensing capability.

  • Patent number: 4047306
Abstract: A bore hole probe instrument having a point source of light, passing through a flexible tubular portion. The point of light, which originates at one end of the flexible tubular portion, is established for example by means of fibre optics, a laser or the like. At the other end of the flexible tubular portion there is located an automatic camera having an image screen, on which the point of light is received. As the flexible tubular portion bends, to follow the path of the bore hole, the light spot will be deflected on the image screen. The camera will photograph the position of the light spot on the image screen thereby providing an indication of the deviation of the bore hole.
