  • Patent number: 11913810
Abstract: A device 1 mountable to an upright ST. The device comprises a body 3 and an arm 5. The body is reversible relative to the upright, about an upright axis, from a first orientation to a second orientation. The body comprises first contacting portions 3a (arranged to contact a front of the upright when the body is in the first orientation) and second contacting portions 3b (arranged to contact a front of the upright when the body is in the second orientation). The arm is movable relative to the body from a first position (in which the arm extends rearwardly beyond the first contacting portions to pass one side of the upright and engage a rear of the upright) to a second position (in which the arm extends rearwardly beyond the second contacting portions to pass another side of the upright and engage the rear of the upright).

  • Patent number: 11415400
Abstract: An example combination tool for marking, measuring, and checking level includes a holder for a marking device (e.g., a soapstone). The holder has a body formed by a first side, a second side, a front side, a back side a top side, and a flat bottom side. A securement releasably secures the marking device at least partially within the body. Turning the securement in a first direction tightens the marking device within the body of the holder. Turning the securement in a second direction loosens the marking device in the body of the holder so that the marking device slides in and out through an opening formed in the front side of the body to adjust a position of the marking device for use in marking. The example combination tool may also include measuring markings, a level, a clip, and a grip.

Abstract: A system and method for positioning hanging objects includes a transfer sheet capable of being marked (e.g. paper) is releasably attached to a positioning member having a ledge that can be aligned with a top surface of an object being hung (e.g. picture); the transfer sheet is then marked (creating a transfer mark) at the location of the object's mounting portion (e.g. hook); the ledge is then positioned as desired (e.g. against a wall), and aligned using a built in level; a mark is made on the wall using the transfer mark (e.g. using a pencil through the transfer mark); a fastener (e.g. nail) is then fixed to the wall at the location of the mark; the object is then hung. Thus, the tedious and often erroneous process of calculating where the hole should be using measuring devices is eliminated.

Abstract: An alignment device, systems and methods where the device includes a guide, a support and a connector which engages the guide and the support. The guide may be a relatively flat piece attachable to and edge of a frame for framing a window or a door. In one aspect the guide member a slot, support attaches to an object such as a window or a door (or is integral with an object such as a window or door) which is to be aligned with the frame. The connector threads within a hole associated with the object, such as a hole of a support connected to a jamb of a window. The connector engages a slot of the guide and the device allows for desired alignment of an object within a frame by transferring rotational movement to linear movement.

  • Patent number: 7775899
Abstract: The present invention helps golfers consistently execute the ideal golf swing. To consistently execute the ideal swing, golfers must consistently align the shafts of their clubs at the ideal angle with respect to the horizontal at setup, prior to executing the swing. The present invention helps golfers set their clubs at the ideal angle by attaching an angle indicating device to the club that indicates the angle of the club with respect to the horizontal. The preferred embodiment of the angle indicating device is a small, lightweight circular bubble level, that has angle markings around its edge, and quickly clips onto an off of the golf club. The angle indicating device is sufficiently small and lightweight that it does not affect the golfers swing. The same device may be used on different golf clubs to show the desired angle for the club in use.

The detachable securing clips have mirror-image symmetry and comprise a transverse segment adapted to be force fit inserted into the clip receiving slots, a pair of opposed leg segments extending from opposed ends of the transverse segment for elastically engaging the outer peripheral surface of the structural member to maintain the level indicating device flush with the structural member, and curved end segments terminating the opposed leg segments.

Abstract: An extension level apparatus suitable for use with a carpenter's level includes in combination a pair of elongated frame members adapted to receive therein the carpenter's level and also includes a spring loaded extension member which permits the extension level to be retained in a wall opening into which a door is to be inserted. The extension level permits the user thereof to determine rapidly the exact vertical position of one vertical edge of the door jamb, allowing for shimming where necessary, and permits a measurement to be taken from a starting point to an end point where the second edge of the door opening is to occur. Hereagain the vertical alignment may be rapidly obtained with the use of shimming when necessary, thereby permitting the door jambs to be inserted rapidly and with accuracy.

  • Patent number: 4400889
Abstract: A dial-type clinometer is fixed to a vise-type pliers-like clamp to position its indicator for swinging in a vertical plane which is substantially perpendicular to the pivot of, and which substantially symmetrically bisects, the clamp. At least one of the jaws of the clamp is adapted for insertion into the end of a pipe that is held horizontally in a pipe-bender preparatory to bending of the pipe in a vertical plane. The clamp is so positioned that when the jaws are locked closed upon the pipe wall, the dial of the clinometer will lie in a vertical plane close to the axis of the pipe. After the dial is set to zero, the pipe is bent until the dial index shows the number of degrees of bend desired. The clamp also has a second pair of jaws extending parallel to its pivot for fastening the clinometer with its axis parallel to the axis of the pipe before its removal from the bender, so that the pipe can be removed and replaced in the bender (rotated 180.degree.
