Abstract: The mounting jig assembly includes a jig body and a clamp assembly. The jig body includes a top surface, a bottom surface, a front wall, a rear wall, and a pair of side walls. The jig body is configured to support the test component on the testing assembly with the test component in contact with the top surface and the bottom surface in contact with the testing platform. The jig body defines an elongated opening that extends between the top surface and the bottom surface. The top surface being oriented obliquely with respect to the bottom surface. The clamp assembly is moveable between a clamped position and an unclamped position. In the clamped position the clamp assembly inhibits movement of the test component with respect to the jig body. In the unclamped position the clamp assembly permits movement of the test component with respect to the jig body.

  • Patent number: 6591511
Abstract: An improved framing square having integral features for automating the marking and cutting of angles. The square contains two sliding carriages—one in the body and one in the blade. Each carriage has a deployable pin. In order to set an angle, the user first deploys the pins in each sliding carriage so that they protrude downward from the square. Next, the user sets the sliding carriage in the body to the desired position and locks it in place. The user then sets the sliding carriage in the blade to the desired position and locks it in place. The two pins protruding from the sliding carriages are then butted against the board to be cut. Once they are in place, the blade of the square will form the correct cutting angle across the board. Since many common cuts employ a twelve inch base leg, the invention includes another feature: Rather than set the sliding carriage within the body to twelve inches, the user may opt instead to deploy a fixed pin located in the body at the twelve inch position.

  • Patent number: 5359782
Abstract: An apparatus for measuring compound angles. This apparatus makes use of the standard T-bevel square, which is capable of measuring only a single angle. The invention is a compound angle blade with a split collet joint. The compound blade attaches by replacing the bolt of the T-bevel with fastening means attached to the split collet joint of the invention. This fastening means secures both the compound angle blade and the standard T-bevel square blade. The split collet joint which is attached perpendicularly to the main body of the T-bevel moves in a 360 degree radius parallel to the main body of the T-bevel. The compound angle blade is capable of rotation in approximately a 180 degree radius relative to the split collet joint. The combination of the rotation of the split collet joint and the compound angle blade allows for compound angle measurements both perpendicular and askew relative to the angle of the standard T-bevel. The angles of both blades are fixed by the same fastening action.

  • Patent number: 4622747
Abstract: The method includes the steps of placing one edge of a resilient sheet, such as vinyl, in adjacent relation with an irregular or nonlinear edge with which the material is to be mated or fitted. When so positioned, one leg of a device or tool is moved along the irregular edge, the device having a second leg that is clamped in an angular relationship with the first leg. The second leg carries a blade at the lower end thereof so that the blade cuts along a line having the same profile as the edge with which the material is to be mated. Such a procedure severs a relatively narrow strip from the sheet material so that the edge formed on the remaining sheet material corresponds in profile to the edge with which the sheet material is to be fitted. The remaining sheet material is then moved toward the edge to be fitted until the profiled edge meets or abuts the edge to be fitted. The legs of the device are angularly adjustable and one leg thereof includes two longitudinally adjustable components.
