Abstract: An apparatus and method for surface marking along an outside corner. In one embodiment, a marking tool includes a base portion and a marker retention portion. The base portion includes a first end and a second end along a longitudinal axis of the tool. The base portion includes a base surface along the longitudinal axis. The base surface is configured to movingly engage a first surface. The marker retention portion extends from the first end of the base portion. The marker retention portion is configured to retain a marking device and to position a marking face of the marking device to engage a second surface that intersects the first surface at an outside corner.
Abstract: A rolling rule that is effective and/or diversified and/or capable of being easily positioned at a desired position and/or capable of being or easily manipulated/controlled is provided. The rolling rule includes a role body, a roller rotatably mounted in the rule body for enabling the rule body to be translated easily in a parallel fashion, a braking device mounted on one side of the rule body, which is to be exerted by a force generally along a direction parallel to a surface of a work piece for permitting the braking device to easily and conveniently brake the roller when a braking occasion is desired, and an outer surface layer having a relatively high frictional coefficient and surrounding the roller for enabling the roller to be positively controlled in motion or at a stop.
Abstract: A pan and channelled drawing board combination comprising a transparent drawing surface channelled on two or more sides and pivotally attached at one corner to the upper surface of the lip of the pan and having a surface support attached to the bottom of the pan.
Abstract: A woodworking machinery jig and fixture system includes a track which is attached to a separate plywood fence, auxiliary table or other workpiece support of woodworking machinery such as a table saw, a band saw, radial arm saw, miter saw, a drill press or a router table. A flip stop and an optional microadjuster mount to a T-shaped slot in the track. An angle bracket is also provided for making right angle connections of track to track or track to support. A location stop records the position of a track relative to a flip stop or other jig or fixture and a circle jig can be used in the track to cut circles. A miter guide, optionally having a fixed head, has a longitudinally adjustable auxiliary fence and a miter bar with an anti-play feature in which a bearing is adjusted to slide on the side of a table top slot in which the bar is received. A guideway for the miter guide has a concave bottom wall which adjustably flexes to tighten the guideway around a miter guide bar.
Abstract: A drafting device includes a body and a roller assembly rotatably mounted on the body for allowing movement of the drafting device across a support surface. The drafting device also includes a spring disposed between the body and roller assembly for producing friction on the roller assembly to resist unintended rolling of the roller assembly.
Abstract: A parallel rule including a rule body, a gripping attachment and two rolling devices which are installed at each end of the rule body. The rolling device has a cylindrical roller and a pair of anchorage portions extending from its end so that the roller is retractable. An opening is provided at each end of the rule body for the roller of the rolling device to project from. By use of the rolling device, the parallel rule is movable.
Abstract: A ruler, especially a parallel ruler having a parallel guidance system comprising a cord (6) extending between four points (A,B,C&D) and crossing itself diagonally in a corner to corner-fashion in the central portion of the ruler, which ruler consists of two flexible parts, a ruler body (1) and a finger rail (2) being in slidable engagement by dovetailing (9) and having clamping devices in both ends in the form of a tapped sleeve (3) and a screw (4) in holes (7), whereby, upon imparting upon the two parts a differently curved shape, the two parts may be clamped together showing a rise of the arch of the ruler, so that the ruler will more easily be pulled over the surface of the drawing-board.The central portion of the finger rail (2) may be removed, whereby the cord (6) may cross itself in this cut away-area (8). Such cord will not hamper the draftsman and will still be easily accessible for check and repair.
Abstract: A navigation position plotter for determining the navigation coordinates of a point on a navigation chart and plotting the position of a point on the navigation chart. A plate bearing navigation scales divided into increments between two spaced grid lines on the navigation chart is mounted on a frame. A first plotting bar is movably mounted on the frame. A second plotting bar is pivotally mounted on the frame and intersects the first plotting bar. The frame is position over the chart such that the navigation coordinate increment underlying the second plotting bar can be read after the first and second plotting bars have been moved into intersecting relationship over the point to be plotted.
Abstract: There is indicated a programmable braking device for the X guide block (18) and the Y guide block (30) of a drafting machine which comprises a brake band (42, 60) which is moved together with the considered guide block. The band revolves around guide pulleys (38, 40; 62, 64), which are arranged laterally outside the displacement path, and is lockable by an associated magnetic brake (44-58; 70-76). In a modified programmable braking device, the guide block (30) carrying the drafting head carries two direction brakes (130, 132) for the two co-ordinate directions. These brakes each comprise a freely running belt conveyor which is movable against the drawing surface in a friction grip.
Abstract: Device for the calculation of the geometrical characteristics of rectangles for the framing of various objects, usable especially in photography, architecture, industrial design. This device comprises a plate in which there is formed a preferably square aperture and which carries a graduation indicating a series of ratios between the contiguous sides of rectangles, a ruler mounted for pivoting on the plate and graduated in length, and an element mounted for pivoting on a slider displaceable on the ruler, the element having two perpendicular arms graduated in length, the element being capable of being locked in any desired angular position as a function of the rectangle to be defined. The invention permits of framing rectangles within predetermined limits, easily and with precision, indicating instantaneously to the user the geometrical characteristics of these rectangles.
Abstract: A device for guarding against the placement of paint in unwanted areas during painting, including an elastomeric body having a butt edge and a feather edge opposite the butt edge for cutting in a line defining the boundary of a painted area. A handle is formed integrally with, or attached at one of its ends to, the butt edge of the elastomeric body, and projects from the body. Embedded within the elastomeric body are a plurality of flexible reinforcing elements, which elements can be bent, along with the elastomeric body, to retain the elastomeric body in a curved configuration so that the feather edge thereof, in conforming to such curvature, can be used for cutting in an area lying in a curved geometric surface. The flexible reinforcing elements preferably extend transversely across the elastomeric body, as well as lengthwise therein.
