    Abstract: The line-marking tool attaches to a pad of paper. The line-marking tool comprises an anchored straight edge, a rotating straight edge, and a slewing bearing. The slewing bearing attaches the rotating straight edge to the anchored straight edge. The anchored straight edge attaches to the pad of paper such that the position of the anchored straight edge relative to the top sheet of the pad of paper is fixed. The anchored straight edge and the rotating straight edge are used to draw straight lines on the top sheet. The slewing bearing adjusts the cant of the rotating straight edge relative to the anchored straight edge such that a cant is formed between a line drawn using the rotating straight edge and a line drawn using the anchored straight edge. The slewing bearing is calibrated to form a precise angle of cant on the top sheet.

Carpenter's squares, being used in rough environment, must be simple to adjust while providing robust snap locking at high angle precision.     Abstract: An apparatus for measuring compound angles. This apparatus makes use of the standard T-bevel square, which is capable of measuring only a single angle. The invention is a compound angle blade with a split collet joint. The compound blade attaches by replacing the bolt of the T-bevel with fastening means attached to the split collet joint of the invention. This fastening means secures both the compound angle blade and the standard T-bevel square blade. The split collet joint which is attached perpendicularly to the main body of the T-bevel moves in a 360 degree radius parallel to the main body of the T-bevel. The compound angle blade is capable of rotation in approximately a 180 degree radius relative to the split collet joint. The combination of the rotation of the split collet joint and the compound angle blade allows for compound angle measurements both perpendicular and askew relative to the angle of the standard T-bevel. The angles of both blades are fixed by the same fastening action.

The telescoping members provide scales indicating the angular position between the two arms, the distance between the pivots of the free ends of the telescoping members on the arms, and a correction to be added to or subtracted from measurements along the length of the arms to establish distances from the corner which is being measured. The two arms can pivot through a full 360 degrees relative to each other, permitting the measurement of inside and outside corners of all sizes.
