Abstract: A device and method for identifying a center of a striking face of a golf club head are disclosed. The center determining device includes a device body having a central opening defined through a first surface of said device body and a second surface opposite said first surface. A first dimension indicator including a pair of first indicator jaws and a second dimension indicator including a pair of second indicator jaws may be disposed on said device body. A first adjuster and a second adjuster are operable to adjust said first separation distance said pair of first indicator jaws and a second separation distance between said second indicator jaws. When the pair of first indicator jaws and the pair of second indicator jaws are equally spaced around the heel, toe, topline, and sole edges of the striking face, the central opening is aligned with the center of the striking face.

  • Patent number: 8747244
Abstract: A putt break visualization instrument useful for improving putting includes an elongated object such as a crossbar that extends from the shaft of a putter and is normal thereto. The golfer begins by addressing the golf ball. The golfer then holds the putter above the green by the handle in the manner of a plumb line so that the shaft of the putter is vertically oriented and the crossbar is horizontally oriented. The golfer then aligns the shaft with the uphill edge of the golf ball and moves the shaft up or down along the vertical so that the crossbar extends in proximity to the cup. The golfer may use a slider on the crossbar to mark the cup. The golfer may now evaluate how well he or she has addressed the golf ball, and either repeat the process if improvement is needed or make the putt.

Abstract: The device for determining the center of gravity of an object measures the moments of the object (e.g., golf club head, or other irregularly shaped object) as it is positioned in three mutually orthogonal axes. As the weight of the object is known, the moments may be divided by the weight to determine the precise arm from the scale to the center of gravity of the object. A line is marked across the exterior surface of the object along each orthogonal axis, with the intersection of the lines defining the center of gravity of the object. A programmable electronic scale is preferably used, but other mechanical and electronic scales may be used as well. The knowledge of the precise location of the center of gravity of the object enables a technician to add or remove weight in precise amounts and locations to adjust the center of gravity precisely.

All of the foregoing components are coupled to a base having a flat horizontal surface. By means of the protractor of the adjustable measuring base, the face angle of golfclubs can be adjusted to match the measuring angle of the measurement, and thus reducing the error and improving precision. Further, the fixed base is rotated to the left or right to attach the sole of the golfclub with the horizontal surface of the base for the measurement of the angles of golfclubs.

Abstract: A device for determining a neutral point on a golf club head. The device comprises a base. A calibration block is attached to the base. The calibration block comprises an index dial and the index dial comprises a neutral indicator. A head aligner is rotatably attached to the base opposite to the calibration block. The head aligner comprises a groove aligner and a sole plate. When the sole plate is in contact with a club sole of the golf club head and the groove aligner is aligned with a club groove of the golf club head the neutral point is aligned with the neutral indicator.

  • Patent number: 6877201
Abstract: An apparatus for positioning and holding a golf club for installation of a golf club grip comprises a shaft cradle, a shaft clamp and a positioning device. The positioning device comprises a platen that is moveable toward and away from the axis of the golf club shaft when the golf club shaft is positioned in the apparatus. Mounted to the platen are a fixed stop and an opposing moveable ram. The fixed stop has a stop surface that is adapted to engage the face of the club so that as the opposing moveable ram presses the golf club head against the fixed stop, the face will assume an orientation flush against the surface of the fixed stop, thus aligning the club face with the stop surface. The entire platen assembly is moveable toward and away from the axis of the golf club shaft so as to accommodate golf clubs having different offsets.

  • Patent number: 6871414
Abstract: The invention provides an apparatus and method for measuring loft and lie angles of a golf club. The apparatus includes a clamping assembly configured to secure the head of a golf club in a stationary position and a shaft sensor system having two cameras spaced apart from the clamping assembly to provide a stereoscopic view of a shaft of the club. The orientation of each of the two cameras is known relative to the face of the club head. A computing device is programmed to use information received from the two cameras to calculate loft and lie angles of the golf club.

  • Patent number: 6818824
Abstract: A ganging tool for adjusting the position of a pair of ganged wiring devices such as duplex receptacles, toggle, and decorator type switches on a mounting, e.g., an electrical box. The ganging tool has a frame having a pair of apertures for receiving different kinds of wiring devices and holding them in place while the ganging tool adjusts the position of the wiring devices. The ganging tool also has rotatable toggle adaptors that allow the ganging tool to be used to position both toggle type wiring devices and non-toggle type wiring devices. The ganging tool further has a leveling means for determining the level of the wiring devices. Also, tool cutouts on the frame of the ganging tool allow the ganging tool to be used with power tools in conjunction with positioning and affixing wiring devices on a mounting.

Abstract: The invention provides an apparatus for measuring and adjusting golf club loft and lie that provides improved accuracy without unduly weakening the club. The apparatus includes clamping assembly configured to secure a golf club head in a stationary position and a shaft sensor system having two cameras spaced apart from the clamping assembly to provide a stereoscopic view of a shaft of the club, thereby facilitating real-time calculations loft and lie angles of the club. A clamping assembly configured to securely support a club head while bending forces are applied is also provided. The clamping assembly includes a face wall positioned to support a club face of the club head and a stationary side wall positioned to support the first longitudinal edge of a club head. The clamping assembly further includes two movable constraint blocks positioned in spaced relationship to the side wall to engage the second longitudinal edge of the club head.
