Cam Profile Or Keyway Patents (Class 33/519)
  • Patent number: 11009436
Abstract: A rigidity measurement apparatus is a rigidity measurement apparatus that measures rigidity of an object to be measured and includes a load estimator, a displacement calculator, and a rigidity calculator. The load estimator estimates a load applied to a measurement point set on the object to be measured by using a captured image of the object to be measured. The displacement calculator calculates a displacement of the measurement point by using the captured image. The rigidity calculator calculates the rigidity of the object to be measured by using the load and the displacement.

  • Patent number: 6256897
Abstract: An engine valve drive apparatus. A camshaft rotatably supported by the engine includes a cam for selectively opening and closing a valve. The cam has a cam surface for driving the valve. The cam surface has a profile that varies continuously in the direction of the cam axis. A valve lifter is arranged between the cam and the valve to convey the motion of the cam to the valve. A cam follower is supported on the valve lifter. The cam follower includes a slide surface having a pair of edges. The cam surface is arched outwardly in the direction of the cam axis to prevent the slide surface edges from contacting the cam surface. The curved surface prevents damage to the cam surface and enables smooth sliding between the cam surface and the cam follower. Alternatively, the slide surface of the cam follower may be arched outwardly.

  • Patent number: 5131160
Abstract: The invention is directed to an adaptor device suitable for use with a measuring apparatus to determine the centrality to the centerline of a Woodruff keyway in a shaft. The adaptor allows the measuring apparatus to rest on the top surface or outside diameter of the shaft so that the measuring apparatus can be used to measure the centrality of the side walls to the centerline of the keyway. Accordingly, the measuring apparatus can operate without reference to the bottom of the keyway due to the use of the adaptor of the present invention which is connected to the measuring apparatus. The adaptor can be structured so that it is usable with a measuring apparatus to measure keyways of varying sizes in shafts of varying sizes.

  • Patent number: 5007302
Abstract: An alignment apparatus for a stroke controlling mechanism having a cam shaft with a number of cams disposed around the cam shaft includes one or more circular lines and one or more sets of circular lines formed around the cam shaft. One or more longitudinal lines are formed on an outer surface of the cam shaft in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the cam shaft. A check line is formed on a side surface of each cam. The cams are disposed on the cam shaft by aligning the check line of each cam with one of the longitudinal lines and by aligning each cam with one of the circular lines. A protractor is provided to measure the angles between the check line of each cam and the longitudinal line of the cam shaft.

  • Patent number: 4970799
Abstract: A device for measuring the centering, parallelism, and perpendicularity of the side walls of a keyway to the centerline of the keyway in a shaft is described. The preferred embodiment of the device includes a micrometer slidingly attached to the device, a horizontal indicator dial slidingly attached to the device and connected to a horizontally extending probe which is positionable in a shaft keyway, a vertical indicator dial slidingly attached to the device and connected to a vertically extending probe positionable in a shaft keyway, and two stationary legs extending downward from the device for seating in a shaft keyway. In operation, the horizontal indicator dial and horizontal probe are utilized to check the centering and parallelism to the centerline of the keyway and the vertical indicator dial and vertical probe are utilized to check the perpendicularity of the keyway side walls to the centerline of the keyway.
