  • Patent number: 6691425
Abstract: A tape measure comprises a housing having a bottom surface and a front surface substantially perpendicular to the bottom surface so that an opening is formed through a lower part of the front surface, a measuring tape strip elastically wound within the housing to become externally released through the opening. A hook having a vertical plate and a horizontal plate extending from a mid line of the inner surface of the vertical plate where the lower surface of the horizontal plate is attachedly layered on the tape strip such that the outer end of the tape strip abuts on the mid line. A support upwardly extends from the upper surface of the horizontal plate to become parallel to the vertical plate.

  • Patent number: 6612046
Abstract: A marking device is used with a measuring tape extendable from a coiled position to mark a desired distance measured by the tape. The marking device includes an actuation member and a marker holder. The actuation member has an exterior portion for manual movement from a retracted to a marking position which moves the marker holder from the retracted to the marking position. A marker is attached to the marker holder for marking the desired distance. A guide device is provided to guide the marker across an inker and then to the marking position. A biasing device, such as a spring, is connected to the marker holder to urge the marker holder towards the retracted position.

Abstract: A measurement marking and scoring device includes a platform configured to be affixed to a base of a tape measure. A marking member extends from the platform and defines a sharpened edge or point marking surface at a lower end thereof. An alignment tab extends from the marking member so as to be positioned over indicia of a tape extended from the tape measure so that measurement marks or score lines can be created on a working surface upon application of pressure to the marking member or tape measure. In another form, the device is integrally formed into a tape measure such that the marking member extends from a front edge of the tape measure.
