    Abstract: A marking device for a CNC machine tool or the like comprises a tubular body capped at either end with top and bottom plates. A main shaft extends down through the top plate along the central axis of the body, and is rotatably held in place by upper and lower bearings. A cylindrical cam having one or more cam lobes disposed on an underside thereof is attached to the main shaft within the body. A guide extends through the bottom plate and slidably supports a spring-biased stylus, an upper, anvil end of which normally tracks along the underside of the cam, and a lower, marking point end of which normally lies just within the guide. When the main shaft is rotated, e.g., by being operably connected to the machine tool's spindle, the cam also rotates, causing the cam lobes to strike the anvil and drive the stylus axially downwards through the guide and into a part or work piece. To create a complex pattern, the machine tool sets the spindle to rotate at a constant rate.

    Abstract: An integrated system for measuring and marking on a surface (110) has a housing (15, 80), a measuring element (40) at least partially contained within the housing, and a marking element (60) for marking the surface. The system is characterized in that the marking element is initially retained within the housing (80) and is maintained in a spaced-apart relationship to the surface until a user moves the housing in a predetermined direction relative to the surface, whereupon the surface is marked at the measured point. The predetermined direction is preferably perpendicular toward the surface, and the marking element preferably operates through an aperture (70) in the bottom surface of the housing. Various embodiments have features including a cursor (30) aligned with which the marking element, a modular removable and replaceable marking element (60), and either a linear measuring tape or an arcuate angle-measuring element (40).

    Abstract: A device for marking the proper position for the threaded fasteners used to secure the leaves of a butt hinge to and between opposable surfaces, which surfaces are to be made hingably movable relative to each other is disclosed. The device includes at least one hinge leaf locator plate which is sized and shaped to conform to the leaf of a hinge whose fastener positions are to be marked. The locator plate contains a series of sharp pointed pins which are arranged thereon and spaced apart from one another in the same manner as the centerline of the fastener holes located in the leaves of the hinge which is to be mounted to and between the opposable surfaces. The series of pins have pointed end portions which project in opposite directions from the locator plate to permit marking by impressions of the pin heads on both opposable surfaces simultaneously for maximum accuracy.

    Abstract: A headlamp aiming apparatus is provided for attachment to an automotive headlamp assembly which includes a frame member rigidly mountable to an automotive vehicle and a headlamp mounted to the frame member for pivotal motion about a horizontal and/or vertical axis of the headlamp for aiming the headlamp beam. The apparatus includes an aim-indicating arrangement having a housing mounted for movement in unison with a given surface of the headlamp so that the housing is movable with the headlamp during aiming. A headlamp adjusting assembly is operatively coupled with the housing for producing movement of both the housing and the headlamp relative to the frame member for achieving the aimed condition. An indicator adjusting assembly is provided for adjusting of the aim-indicating means to indicate an aimed condition of the associated headlamp and, in particular, while the headlamp is in a condition wherein the beam is aimed as desired responsive to adjustment by the headlamp adjusting assembly.
