Image processing is performed to find the reference object using known fiducial patterns printed on the reference object, metadata supplied by a user and/or by the detection of colored papers in the scene of the captured image. Once located and measured, the reference object is used to calculate a pixel scale factor used to measure the target object dimensions. Target object dimensions are provided to an automated or semi-automated measurement process, design and manufacturing system such that customized parts for a supplemental fenestration are provided to end users.

The apparatus is a two-part tool including a tape measure tab part and a tape measure tape part. The tape part of the apparatus is secured to the diagonally opposite corner of the structure and is used to check the diagonal distance measurement of the tape across the structure. The illumination device includes a light emitting diode (LED) wherein the light emitting diode may be arranged on the locking mechanism to illuminate the measuring tape in an area adjacent to the opening and a user activatable switch for causing power to be selectively provided to the LED wherein the user activatable switch is mounted to an exterior surface of the lock actuator.

    Abstract: A multi-tool assembly with retractable tape measure, collapsible right angle square, straight edge arm with built-in razor blade knife and protractor, complete with a set of three retractable screwdrivers, all mounted in a single, compact, housing assembly. The combination; straight edge arm and razor blade knife, locks into one of several positions; to stay closed, to form into a carpenter's square and to extend the razor blade knife. The arm can be manually opened or spring powered to snap open like a switchblade when the release button is activated. The thin razor blade cutting edge creates a knife that is much sharper than ordinary pocket knives. The set of screwdrivers are permanently mounted within the back of the housing assembly. Each of the screwdrivers can be pivoted open to protrude out from the back of the housing assembly, allowing each screwdriver to be used individually.

    Abstract: In one embodiment, a cutting guide has a base with a flat lower surface for resting the cutting guide on an upper surface of a work piece. Extending down from the front of the base is an abutment member that aligns the base with a front surface of the work piece. A fence is installed on the upper surface of one side of the base to guide a cutting instrument across the work piece. A kick-up preventer extends from the top of the fence away from the base to prevent the cutting instrument from kicking-up during operation. On the other side of the base, a tape measure is mounted on the upper surface such that the tape extends away from the fence, and a measurement-securing assembly is mounted in front of the tape measure to secure the tape measure at a desired measurement.

    Abstract: An apparatus for evaluating the condition of a lift sling. The apparatus includes a body with an upper section and a lower section. The lower section includes a cradle member with a load bearing surface that engages an inner surface of a connecting link at one end of a sling. The apparatus includes an engagement section that receives and positions the end of a measuring device so that it is in tangential alignment with the load bearing surface of the cradle member. In use, one end of a sling is positioned on the load bearing surface of the cradle member and one end of a measuring device is positioned on the engagement section of the apparatus. The apparatus is then raised so that the sling and the measuring device are hanging freely. The reach of the sling is then measuring using the measuring device.
