Abstract: A construction for loosing prevention and position fixing of rule tape of tape ruler comprises a main housing having a handle formed at its upper end, and a wound rule tape for measurement is installed in the main housing. The free end of said rule tape is attached with a buckle ring and there is installed with a magnetic element adjacent to said buckle, so as to absorb said buckle ring be located at a fix position and prevent the generation of pulling force due to the weight of buckle ring, the rule tape then would not be loosen; in addition, there is a fixing element installed in the main housing, in measuring the distance between two objects, the fixing element is taken apart off main housing in advance, and then the fixing element is stickled into a position to be measured, afterwards, the buckle ring at the free end of rule tape is mounted onto the fixing element to fix the end of rule tape at a designated position. Thus the measurement can be achieved by only one people.

  • Patent number: 7496407
Abstract: A nerve stimulator measuring device used to measure the length of electrical conduction of a nerve using a standard electrical nerve stimulator. The device includes an outer housing attached or integrally formed on the cathode probe on the standard nerve stimulator. Mounted on the two probes or located inside the outer housing is a retractable, flexible tape measure with length measure units printed thereon. During assembly, the outer housing is positioned over the two probes so that the tape measure disposed therebetween. During use, the end point of the tape is positioned over the recording sensor. The nerve stimulator is then pulled towards the hand so that the tape unwinds to the display the desired distance. The nerve stimulator is then held so that the cathode probe is pressed against the skin over the nerve and adjacent to the desired distance shown on the tape. The nerve stimulator is then activated and a reading is obtained.

  • Patent number: 7475842
Abstract: A power operated tape measure enables extension of a tape via a drive mechanism, as well as retraction of the tape through a mechanical decoupling within the drive mechanism. The tape measure has a housing within which is positioned a spring-biased tape assembly, the drive mechanism and a clutch. The spring-biased tape assembly includes an annular reel onto which is wound a tape having indicia for taking length measurements. The drive mechanism includes a driving gear and a driven gear, and is adapted to engage with a bottom surface of the tape to extend the tape out of the housing. The clutch is adapted to displace the driven gear out of engagement with the driving gear and thereby decouple the driving and braking force provided by the drive mechanism from acting upon the bottom surface of the tape to permit the spring-biasing of the tape assembly to retract the tape into the housing.

  • Patent number: 7415778
Abstract: A tape measure includes a housing that includes a frame and a mouthpiece body moveable mounted to the frame. The mouthpiece body includes a tape exit port that is moveable, advantageously rotatably, and may include an external recess aligned with the exit port. A measuring tape is supported by the housing and selectively deployable from the housing via the exit port. The movable exit port may allow the tape to enter the housing along a line that is tangent to the coil of tape rotatably supported by the housing. This tangency is advantageously maintained as the size of the coil changes due to the amount of tape therein. Other aspects and methods are also disclosed.

Abstract: A pivoting cable extension arm (2) has a pivot sensor (3). The extension arm is mounted on a swivel frame (4) having a swivel sensor (5). The swivel frame has two tangent sheaves (4A, 4C) that allow a wide pivot range of the extension arm. A cable take-up drum (6) has a range sensor (7) for sensing the length of cable (1) extending from the drum. The three-sensors (3, 5, 7) provide data for computing 3D coordinates of the end of the cable (1) over a wide range of space surrounding the assembly. This allows an object to be measured and modeled in three dimensions by touching the cable end to points on the object and acquiring spatial coordinates of the points.
