Including Means To Lock One Contact Member Patents (Class 33/812)
  • Patent number: 10495434
Abstract: The telescopic measuring device is a tool that enables a user to measure distances that might otherwise be beyond their reach. A measuring blade contained within a housing may be extended until a wear block at one end of the telescopic measuring device and an end hook at the other and of the telescopic measuring device span the distance to be measured. The measuring blade may then be locked into position using a clocking clamp and the measured distance may be read through a sighting window where a sight line will align with measurement indicia on the measuring blade.

  • Patent number: 8826557
Abstract: A caliper for measuring the size of an object, especially the thickness of an object with non-planar surfaces. After measured, the caliper can be removed from the object without changing the measured value. The caliper includes a scale ruler, a vernier slidably disposed on the scale ruler, a first jaw fixedly connected to the scale ruler and a second jaw pivotally connected to the vernier. In normal state, the second jaw is kept in a position in alignment with and in parallel to the first jaw, whereby the caliper can be used to measure the object in a common manner. After measured, the second jaw is rotated to another position, permitting the caliper to be removed from the measured object.

  • Patent number: 8763269
Abstract: An apparatus and method for measuring a bicycle seating position. A telescoping rod includes a pinch closure, with contact points to attach to a pedal, a saddle, and a handlebar/stem. The telescoping rod includes a larger diameter rod with a small diameter rod that can slide into the larger diameter rod, thereby allowing the inner rod to move freely up or down to account for differing distances being measured. The smaller diameter rod can include a measuring scale to allow a user to read a measurement from one point to another, allowing for the measurement to be repeated. With the pinch closure, a user could take a measurement on one bicycle, carry it over to another bicycle and set a position on the second bicycle identical to that of the first bicycle.

Abstract: A measurement device for measuring a distance between a center of a through hole defined in a panel and a side of the panel extending from an end of the panel includes a positioning member, a support member, and a measurement member. The positioning member and the measurement member are set on two ends of the support member. An inside surface of the positioning member resists the side of the panel. A distance between the inside surface and a center of the measurement member is about equal to a normal distance between the side and the center of the through hole. If an actual distance between the side and the center of the through hole meets a determined specification, the measurement member will enter into the through hole.

  • Patent number: 7328520
Abstract: A gage for measuring a diameter of a workpiece has a pair of parallel spaced apart side rails. A pair of block sets is mounted between the side rails and spaced apart from each other. A pair of arms extends transverse to the rails through mating profiles in the blocks of each block set. The arms are slidable in a transverse direction to the side rails. Each block set can slide along the side rails and has a single fastener that secures the blocks to the side rails and the arms to the blocks in a desired position. Drag brakes between the blocks and the side rails prevent the components from sliding of their own weight while the fasteners are loosened. The block sets and arms are rotatable 180 degrees about the fasteners when loosened to accommodate outside and inside measurements.

  • Patent number: 7216440
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for determining a dimension of a portion of a garment are disclosed that preferably comprise a first member having a first gage end and a slide end, and a second member co-operatively engaged with the first member. The second member has a second gage end that has at least one scale. The apparatus has a locking device for locking the first and second members, such as a screw or wing nut passed through a pair of holes in registration. In preferred embodiments, the first and second gage ends extend from the first and second members respectively at a substantially right angle so they are substantially L-shaped. It is also preferred that the second member is made of a first layer and a second layer spaced away from the first layer, so the slide end passes between the first and second layers.

  • Patent number: 7070375
Abstract: A temporary fastener includes a grip length indicator. By machining a flattened area into a body of the temporary fastener, by engraving an scale into the flattened area, and by attaching an indicator dot visible in the groove to a moving part of an internal assembly of the temporary fastener, the grip length of the installed temporary fastener may be read directly on the scale while the temporary fastener applies a clamp-up force to a structure. By using the temporary fastener of the present invention, it is possible to determine a fastener hole length while a temporary fastener is installed. Using the method for determining a fastener grip length of the present invention enables the effective determination of the correct fastener grip length for each particular fastener hole of a large structure, such as an aircraft airframe.
