Combined Patents (Class 334/39)
  • Patent number: 11879921
Abstract: Coaxial load pull tuners use one horizontally-only moving metallic reflective probe inserted in the slabline at fixed penetration and an adjustable RF energy absorbing eccentrically into the slabline rotated disc. The tuner does not use high precision vertical axes. The remotely adjustable attenuator is inserted adjacent to the test port and mitigates spurious high reflection. Calibration procedures using de-embedding or adapter removal techniques allow high resolution full tuner characterization in a few minutes.

  • Publication number: 20140077904
Abstract: A novel frequency locked loop for tuning a bandpass filter to a small offset frequency around an RF center frequency is provided. The difference between the bandpass filter frequency and the RF center frequency is generated, a frequency locked loop is used to tune the frequency difference to a reference offset frequency.

  • Publication number: 20120299672
Abstract: The present invention concerns a system for controlling gain when time-sharing a tuner in a frequency diversity receiver. Two radio-frequency automatic gain control (RFAGC) filter capacitors are used, each capacitor corresponding to one of the currently utilized frequencies in the frequency diversity scheme. The capacitors are switched in tandem with the tuner frequency selection. This allows the capacitor associated with a tuned frequency to retain the RFAGC voltage until the tuner returns to that frequency.

  • Publication number: 20110254644
Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention includes a method for determining process corner information of an integrated circuit (IC) and controlling at least one analog current for at least one analog circuit of the IC based on the process corner information. More specifically, if the process corner information is indicative of a fast corner IC, the analog current may be scaled down. At the same time that the analog current is scaled down, a current consumption level of digital circuitry of the IC may increase. In this way, overall power consumption of the IC may be reduced to the extent that the analog current(s) are scaled.

  • Publication number: 20110034138
Abstract: Provided are a tuner and a broadcast receiver having the same. The tuner comprises a first signal receiver, a second signal receiver, a signal converter, and a signal processor. The first signal receiver receives a first signal. The second signal receiver receives a second signal. The signal converter converts the second signal into a signal in a frequency band of the first signal. The signal processor processes an output signal of the first signal receiver or the signal converter.

  • Publication number: 20100309386
Abstract: The tuner comprises an RF input for receiving a high frequency signal, a downconverter including a mixer for downconverting the high frequency signal, an IF filter coupled to an output of the mixer, an SAW filter coupled to an output of the IF filter and a gain-controlled IF amplifier coupled to an output of the SAW filter for providing an amplified IF signal for a subsequent demodulator. The IF filter includes a controllable damping stage which is in particular usable for improving the noise performance of the tuner. The tuner is designed in a preferred embodiment for reception of analog and digital television signals and the controllable damping stage provides a damping in case of reception of an analog television signal for improving a signal/noise ratio of the analog television signal. The damping stage comprises for example a switching stage utilizing one or several varactor diodes as damping elements.

  • Publication number: 20100073577
Abstract: A lightweight and compact design provides for a portable antenna device that is able to receive over the air digital broadcasts. Such a device can receive a large number of high definition digital signals, over a wide spectrum. The device can be powered by a number of approaches, including receiving power over a USB or similar connection. Such a device thus can be used with home analog or digital televisions as well as portable digital media devices. The device includes an extendable, substantially rectangular antenna element that is shaped to receive the digital signals over a wide band.

  • Patent number: 3944952
Abstract: A limited tuning range tuning unit useable with a television tuner of the turret type includes a user tunable coil having a tuning slug extending from an end of the tuning unit. A pinion gear engageable by a drive train coupled to a user operated fine tuning shaft is attached to the end of the tuning slug. The pinion gear is provided with a stop tooth for limiting the adjustment range of the slug to approximately one revolution. In one embodiment, the slug is also longitudinally movable with respect to a coil in the coil unit to provide a factory adjustment for centering the tuning range available to the user. Alternatively, the factory adjustment may be provided by making the slug rotatable with respect to the pinion gear.
