Abstract: An electromagnetic system consists of an electric circuit comprising two solenoids wired in series, one mounted either side and proximate to a toroid. Voltage is applied across the toroid and the solenoids in a specific sequence which alters the inductance behavior of the system, resulting in an inductance gain and no mutual inductance between the toroid and the two solenoids.

Abstract: A structure (and method) for tuning a resonant structure, includes a resonant structure including either a predetermined material coating provided on either a bar or a cantilever, or a lightly doped single crystal semiconductor material, and a circuit for providing a variable field adjacent the resonant structure, with the length or at least one of the elastic constants of the resonant structure changing with the application of the variable magnetic or electric field, respectively, thereby to selectively tune the resonant structure.

Abstract: A ferrite tuning arrangement for a resonator includes a ferrite loaded line in the form of a stripline having an inner conductor, an outer conductor and a ferrite disposed between the inner and outer conductors, with the stripline being adapted for coupling to the resonator. A reflecting termination is provided for the stripline and a magnetic circuit is provided for generating a variable premagnetization field for the ferrite in an orientation perpendicular to a high frequency magnetic field existing in the stripline.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for calibrating a yttrium-iron-garnet-tuned filter (YTF) is disclosed. Instead of using both tune+span information from the 1st LO, only the sweep ramp used to span the 1st LO is used for the YTF's s own swept spans, and the YTF has its own tune information created independently of tune of the YIG oscillator. This allows calibration at any time, both in the factory or in the field.

Abstract: In a swept frequency oscillator arrangement compensation is provided for the non-linearities in the tuning sensitivity of the oscillator. The non-linearities are initially measured and stored. Subsequently the stored values are used to control the rate at which the clock pulses are integrated to produce a control signal for the oscillator.
