  • Patent number: 8169281
Abstract: The starter has a system of pushing the pinion gear in the direction of the anti-motor side by using the attracting power of the electromagnetic switch via the shift lever. The switch coil of the electromagnetic switch is constituted of one coil that is electrically separated from the motor circuit. The mass of pinion gear is set to 100 g or less, the switch extrusion power stored in the drive spring is set to 70 N (Newton) or less, and the operation current of the electromagnetic switch is set to 12 amperes or less. With this starter, since the switch coil and the motor circuit can be electrically separated, the terminal for connection for connecting the conventional attracting coil and conventional “M terminal bolt” can be abolished. Further, by setting the operation current of the electromagnetic switch 10 to 12 amperes or less, it is possible to control the operation current directly by the ECU.

Abstract: The invention provides a method and system for monitoring the flow of ore in block cave mining operations by inserting an active magnetic beacon 1 into the ore body 12 and generating an alternating magnetic signal with the beacon 1. The ore is monitored with a magnetometer (14, 15, 16, 17, 18) to detect the magnetic flux emitted by the beacon 1 thereby determining the position of the beacon. Successive recordings of the position of the magnetic beacon are taken as it moves along with the ore as it “caves”. In this way, the flow patterns of the ore may be revealed.

Abstract: Aspects relate to mitigation of a magnetic field produced by one or more units to be shipped such that a magnitude of magnetic field measured is maintained at or below a threshold level. A counter-flux is applied through the use of one or more magnets, magnet arrays, or a geometrical arrangement of magnet arrays. The strength of the counter-flux is varied by altering size, shape, number, polarity and/or location of the one or more magnets or magnet arrays. The one or more magnets or magnet arrays can be constructed as standard assemblies and/or customized magnet assemblies. Additionally, magnet tiles or configurations can provide a return path for stray field leakage and mitigation. • Patent number: 8134441
Abstract: A method and system for propagating signals along a line of nanomagnets. Nanomagnets having an easy axis and a hard axis are provided a biaxial anisotropy term, which increases metastability along the hard axis. The nanomagnets are forced into hard-axis alignment. A magnetization direction of a first nanomagnet is caused to cant upward. Dipole coupling interactions between the first nanomagnet and an adjacent nanomagnet cause a magnetization direction of the adjacent nanomagnet to cant downward in an anti-parallel alignment. This cascade continues reliably along the line of nanomagnets. The biaxial anisotropy term provides additional stability along the hard axis to ensure the nanomagnets do not prematurely align along the easy axis. Various logic gates using nanomagnets, stabilizer nanomagnets, destabilizer nanomagnets, and magnetic diodes are also disclosed.

Abstract: The present invention comprises correlated magnet actuators, devices incorporating said actuators, and methods of use thereof. The actuators utilize magnetic drives comprising a pair of complimentary correlated permanent magnet pairs, arranged in a separable and opposing fashion. The attractive or repulsive force of each correlated magnet pair drops significantly after only a few degrees of rotation off of a prime attractive or repulsive rotational alignment, allowing the magnets to be binarily manipulated between a correlated and decorrelated alignment. The linear motion resulting from the periodic coupling and decoupling of the magnetic pair can be translated to supporting conveyance structures to produce rotary (torque) output work. This output work can be harnessed to drive secondary utilization components such as a generator or a pump, or other devices dependent on rotary work output for their operation.

Abstract: An electromagnetic switch is provided which is equipped with a built-in electronic control circuit working to control energization of an exciting coil. The electronic control circuit is disposed within a chamber defined by a magnetic plate to be separate from a contact chamber. In other words, the electronic control circuit is disposed between the magnetic plate and the exciting coil, thereby avoiding the adhesion of conductive dusts, as arising from the wear of contacts, to the surface of the electronic control circuit. This results in decreases in electric insulation and short-circuit of the electronic control circuit and also eliminates the need for additional special parts to electrically insulate and shield the electronic control circuit, thus permitting the electromagnetic switch to be reduced in size and produced at a decreased const.

Abstract: A magnetic adhesive and braking system for a remote controlled vehicle adapted for traversing across ferromagnetic surfaces of a steel shipping container including the vertical walls and ceiling. The magnetic wheel system allows the vehicle to traverse vertical grades. The magnetic braking system both securely holds the vehicle when stopped on a vertical surface, and exerts enough attractive force between the vehicle and the shipping container to allow a vehicle mounted drill to operate. The magnetic brake design uses mechanical advantage such that the force required to roll the vehicle vertically downward is heightened to the force required to detach the vehicle in a perpendicular vector from the container's surface.
