  • Patent number: 7511597
Abstract: The main body of the actuator structure is generally formed into a “pitchfork”shape. The middle bar of the pitchfork forms a Y-bend at its forward end. The Y-bend is disposed so that each tip of the bend is adjacent to the outer bar on each side of the pitchfork. At least a coil is fixed on each bar of the main body. The forward ends of the Y-bend abut against a movable member. In the structure above, applying a current to a coil generates minute movements in each tip of the Y-bend, thereby moving the movable member.

  • Patent number: 7280021
Abstract: A linear solenoid is provided which works to pull a plunger to a stator magnetically. The plunger and the stator are aligned to have ends opposed to each other. The end of the stator has formed therein a recess into which the end of the plunger is insertable. The recess has an inward magnetic attraction surface formed on a peripheral edge. The plunger has an outward magnetic attraction surface formed on an outer peripheral edge of the end thereof which faces the inward magnetic attraction surface through a magnetic gap. The inward and outward magnetic attraction surfaces have greater areas defining the magnetic gap, thereby ensuring a greater amount of magnetic attraction pulling the plunger to the stator upon energization of a coil. The recess may alternatively be formed in the end of the plunger.

  • Patent number: 6424244
Abstract: The invention relates to a magnetic switch having a yoke which has the shape of a rotationally symmetrical cup on the base of which is arranged a permanent magnet. The flux of the permanent magnet is conducted via a core, which has a radial core flange, to the plate-shaped armature. For the operational air gap effective between the armature and the core and the yoke and the magnetic resistance WA thereof, the following relation applies in relation to the marginal air gap formed between the core flange and the yoke: WA<WR. As a result of the rotational symmetry with a yoke having the shape of a cup, it is possible to generate a high holding force for the armature with a small structural volume.

  • Patent number: 6305583
Abstract: A valve for dispensing a viscous fluid, includes a valve body defining a fluid chamber and a stepped armature within the fluid chamber. The armature has a large diameter portion maintained spaced apart from an inner surface of the valve body, defining a first air gap therebetween, and a second, smaller diameter portion which engages an inner surface of the valve body, supporting the armature within the valve body and defining a second lower reluctance air gap. A solenoid coil energized by a peak and hold drive current produces an electromagnetic field for moving the armature relative to the magnetic pole piece and the valve body. The second portion of the armature becomes magnetically saturated during the peak portion of the drive current, causing magnetic flux to be diverted through the first portion of the armature.

  • Patent number: 4467304
Abstract: An electromagnetic device having a ferromagnetic core having first and second legs and a third leg wherein opposed pole faces define a gap. A source of latching flux retains an armature in contact with one of either of the pole faces. A primary coil and a secondary coil are coupled in tandem to the first leg of the ferromagnetic core. The second leg is saturable under the cumulative flux created in the first leg when the secondary coil allows only a unidirectional flux flow in the first leg.
