Abstract: A relay with two current paths thermally connected in parallel is particularly fail-safe. In case of a failure of one main contact, the additional load current is led via the remaining functioning main contact. The failed main contact as well as the thermal connection between the two main contacts then serve as heat sinks, whereby the relay can continue to operate.

Abstract: An adjustable solenoid assembly with an adjustable threaded pole having an interference fit section to be used with a complementary threaded receiver (e.g., the bore of the top plate) with an interference fit section. The adjustable threaded sections are used to pull or push the interference fit sections together and allow for precise locating of the interference fit sections and adjustment. The threaded pole may be used to set and maintain a precision working air gap between the pole piece and the plunger of the electromagnetic solenoid assembly. The interference fit holds the pole piece into location while still allowing the solenoid to be adjustable without a loss in flux density.

Abstract: A micromechanical switch having a plurality of stable positions, which can be driven between the stable positions with a minimum of residual oscillation. The low oscillation results from the application of a braking force of specific magnitude and duration to exactly cancel the excess energy imparted to the switch during actuation. The braking algorithm results in a faster settling time, thereby improving the performance of the switch.

Abstract: An electromagnetic relay has an iron core, an armature, a coil wound around the iron core, a yoke, a hinge spring, and a joining structure. The yoke is fastened rigidly to the iron core and has an engaging hole and a fitting portion. The hinge spring is used to support the armature rotatably on the yoke, and the joining structure is used to join the hinge spring to the yoke in the electromagnetic relay. The hinge spring has a tongue and a dish-shaped portion, and the yoke has an engaging hole and a fitting portion for engaging with the tongue and the dish-shaped portion. The hinge spring is joined to the yoke by inserting and fitting the hinge spring into the yoke. This structure serves to simplify the process of assembling the hinge spring to the yoke and drastically reduce the number of assembling steps required.

Abstract: The invention relates to a solenoid valve with a coil body, a magnet core, an armature with armature guide and a yoke. In a first variant there is provided between the yoke and the armature guide a pole tube which has first means for producing an electrical contact with the armature guide and second means for producing an electrical contact with the yoke. In a second variant the solenoid valve also has a fixing plate which is disposed on the side of the solenoid valve on which the armature guide projects out of the yoke, the armature guide projecting through the fixing plate. According to the invention, in this variant a contacting element which produces an electrical contact between the fixing plate and the armature guide is provided between the fixing plate and the armature guide.

Abstract: A switching device providing highly-reliable, frictionless, adjustment-free operation is described. Comprised of a comparatively small number of moving parts, the various aspects of the invention offer compact, cost-effective, reliable alternatives to their complex electromagnetic and costly solid-state counterparts. The main parts of the invention rely upon the principles of magnetic attraction and repulsion for the switching of a plurality of electrical contacts contained within the switching device. The flexibility inherent in the design of the invention permits the switching device to be configured in a variety of aspects, including the failsafe and latching designs described herein.

Abstract: An electromagnetic actuator for an electromagnetically actuated valve is disclosed. The actuator includes an electromagnet and an armature, the armature having a normally biased initial spaced apart first position distal from the electromagnet when the electromagnet is off and a second fixed stop position in abutment with the electromagnet when the electromagnet is on. In addition, the actuator includes a resilient member adapted to bias the armature in the normally biased initial spaced apart first position, and a compliant member operably connected to the armature. The armature approaches the electromagnet when the electromagnet is on and compresses the compliant member until the armature reaches the fixed stop position.

Each of the spring hooks has a first portion (4a) lying substantially flat on an outer side of the armature and a second portion (4b) extending from the first portion about the armature and lying almost flat against an outer surface of the yoke. This armature-mounting arrangement is a particularly uncomplicated and cost effective structure and its operation is also not particularly sensitive to fabrication tolerances of the armature and the yoke.

  • Patent number: 5066980
Abstract: A solenoid plunger magnet system is disclosed, preferably to be used as print hammer in a print hammer device. Known solenoid plunger magnets have in the exciting coil a first interferric gap as working interferric gap and a second interferric gap outside the exciting coil as loss interferric gap. The magnetic lines of force at the second gap are lost as moving forces for the solenoid plunger. The purpose of the invention is to increase the magnetic force of solenoid plunger magnets by using the second gap as well for generating forces, without affecting the generation of forces at the inner gap. For this purpose, a male taper control is arranged at the outer gap, which has a cylindrical shape and the usual length of loss gaps. A considerable increase of the magnetic force is thus achieved.
