  • Patent number: 6903647
Abstract: A coil assembly for a solenoid valve includes a bobbin formed from an electrically insulative material. A bore extends axially through the bobbin. A first flux ring having a sleeve extending axially from an annular base is mounted upon a first end of the bobbin with the sleeve extending into the bobbin bore. Similarly, a second flux ring also having a sleeve extending from an annular base is mounted upon a second end of the bobbin that is opposite from the first flux ring with its sleeve extending into the bobbin bore. The flux rings are formed from a magnetically permeable material that has a high heat conductivity. Magnet wire is wound upon the assembled bobbin and flux rings to form the coil assembly.

Abstract: An electrical coil has a coil body, at least one face-end flange of the coil body, at least one mount for coil wire on the face-end flange, and one tonguelike insulation displacement contact for contacting the coil wire in the mount. Two intersecting slots of different depth are embodied on the mount, and the coil wire rests on the bottom of the slot of lesser depth, while the tonguelike insulation displacement contact is received in the slot of greater depth. Since the slot of lesser depth, in the region of its bottom, has a width which is less than the diameter of the coil wire, the coil wire is firmly clamped in the mount. The electrical coil is particularly useful for use in magnet valves.

Abstract: The high-voltage transformer comprises a core, a primary winding, a high-voltage winding arranged in a coil former, and a housing, whereat the primary winding is arranged at the outside of the housing. The housing is preferably cylindrical with wall-like juts between which the primary winding is wound, said juts especially placed at each side of the housing. The primary winding can be arranged as a dense winding at the outside of the housing which covers essentially the high voltage winding to shield the high voltage winding electrically. Auxiliary windings for providing low supply voltages can be placed also outside together with the primary winding. The transformer comprises only two plastic parts which requires less production steps and less material.

  • Patent number: 6492890
Abstract: One or more heat-conducting devices are located coincident with a bobbin that is used to form the coils of the transformer. The coil wire is subsequently wrapped around the bobbin and adjacent heat-conducting device assembly, using conventional coil winding techniques. The heat-conducting device is preferably configured to extend beyond the transformer so as to contact a heat-conducting surface, such as a ballast enclosure, when the transformer is appropriately mounted. Because the heat-conducting device is located adjacent the inner windings of the coil, which is typically the locale of the highest temperature build-up in a transformer, a highly efficient heat-transfer is achieved. Preferably, the heat-conducting device comprises one or more copper conductors, with a thin layer of insulating tape separating the copper conductors from the coil windings.
