Rotary Or Reciprocating Mechanism Patents (Class 337/10)
  • Patent number: 9384930
Abstract: A fuse appliance has a fuse carrier for receiving a fuse and a base. The fuse carrier is in a cavity of the base and is manually operable to remove or insert the fuse. Fixed contacts are provided on the base which engage with moving contacts provided on the carrier. Wiring terminals are electrically connected to the fixed contacts. A rotational-linear pulling operation mechanism has a semicircular rotary shaft structure that has two semicircular convex shafts and first and second circular straight grooves fitted to each other so that the fuse carrier performs rotational and linear movements relative to the base and an interchange between rotational and linear movements at a transition position when the carrier is pulled out of or pushed into the appliance.

  • Patent number: 6953915
Abstract: A combination selector switch and infinite switch energy regulator provides a plurality of simmer voltages. An infinite switch energy regulator for adapting input voltage level to an average output voltage level is provided. This energy regulator has a rotatable shaft for adjusting the average output voltage level. An input voltage selector, such as an F switch, selects between a plurality of input voltages by actuation of a rotatable cam. The output of the input voltage selector is provided as an input to the infinite switch. The rotatable shaft is also operatively coupled to the rotatable cam and thus controls the input voltage selector as well as the infinite switch. The selective provision of two different voltage levels as an input to the infinite switch permits a plurality of simmer voltages when the unit is assembled in an electric range.

  • Patent number: 6753485
Abstract: A rotary switch containing fuse capabilities. An electrical contact disc is rotatively mounted in a housing. A handle assembly is mounted to the electrical contact disc and rotates therewith, and is replaceably mounted in the housing so as to allow the handle assembly to be removed from the housing and prevent inadvertent operation of the rotary switch. A pin extends in the handle assembly and a fuse retainer and engages a horse shoe clip, and in doing so, axially movably attaches the fuse retainer to a fuse-holding disc. The pin then extends in a bushing. A pair of blind slots in the pin engage a hair pin clip, and in so doing, the handle assembly can rotate relative to, but cannot be removed from, the housing, unless the pin is rotated 90 degrees, which would orientate the pair of through slots out of engagement with the hair pin clip.

  • Patent number: 6278619
Abstract: The invention concerns a disconnecting appliance, such as a switch, a fuse-disconnecting switch or breaker-reversing switch, having a novel arrangement of fixed and moving contacts promoting contact surface self-cleaning and increasing contact force for the same contact force applied by the cam. Moreover, it comprises a newly designed cam for actuation the mobile contacts to optimize to the maximum the operating conditions when engaging and releasing. The appliance is characterized in that the moving contacts (35, 36) comprise two contact surfaces (38) arranged in substantially perpendicular planes, corresponding with those (27) of the fixed contacts (31, 31′ and 33, 33′), each moving contact (35, 36) moving in radial translation relative to the control shaft (23) along a direction (F) substantially perpendicular to a straight line passing through its two contact surfaces (38).

  • Patent number: 5138296
Abstract: The present invention is an electric switch for switching individual phases of multi-phase AC electric power. The switch has at least one pair of fixed terminals with each terminal of the pair having an ear extending upward in a vertical plane. The switch also has a conducting device with contacts that extend downward in the vertical plane corresponding to the fixed terminals. Moving contacts are mounted to an axially translatable contact carrier and engage contemporaneously in the vertical plane with the contacts from the conducting device and the fixed terminals when the contact carrier slides into an "on" position. Electrical power is then able to flow from the line-side fixed terminal, through the conducting device, to the load-side terminal. The contact carrier is translated axially by the drive mechanism. The drive mechanism employs over-center shifting and lost-motion switching technology to prevent the switch from being in a partially "on" position.

  • Patent number: 4748431
Abstract: In an electric switch of the kind comprising a rectilinearly movable contact carrier (31), contacts (33) of which cooperate with fixed contacts (10A-17A,20A-25A) of a housing (19) defining spaces containing the fixed and moving contacts, which spaces are vented to atmosphere, the moving contact carrier (31) is provided with barriers or partitions (40) that cooperate with corresponding barriers or partitions (41,42) of the switch housing to subdivide the contact containing spaces in a labyrinthine manner. As the moving contact carrier (31) moves from the closed to open contact position, the respective barriers or partitions (40-42) of the contact carrier and the housing move relatively in a direction towards one another. This serves to minimize the risk of ionized gases passing between contact containing spaces of the housing (19) upon opening of the switch contacts.
