Device for condition monitoring and protection of rotating electrical machines, and a method thereof
Patent number: 11656280Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a device and a method for condition monitoring and protection of rotating electrical motors. The device receives measurements of current flowing in a power line connected to the rotating electrical machine. The device extracts a frequency band content containing information representative of condition of rotor bar from the measured current signal using wavelet filters. Further, the device compares the frequency band contents with a predefined threshold value and identifies a condition of the rotor bars. The condition includes damages caused to the rotor bars. Based on the condition, the IED generates one or more status signals (alarm signals or trip signals). The trip signal is provided to a switch connected to the power line to disconnect the rotating electrical machine.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2019Date of Patent: May 23, 2023Assignee: ABB Schweiz AGInventors: Simi Valsan, Arinjai Gupta -
Patent number: 11650225Abstract: A test and measurement system can include a data store configured to store augmentation settings for dynamically augmenting a physical testing environment and a computing device coupled to the data store. The computing device can be configured to receive an input feed from the physical testing environment, create an augmentation image based on the augmentation settings and the input feed, and output the augmented image to be overlaid on the physical testing environment to augment a user's view of the physical testing environment.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2021Date of Patent: May 16, 2023Assignee: Tektronix, Inc.Inventors: Tyler B. Patent number: 9871329Abstract: Terminal assemblies for power receptacles or switches or other electrical devices include a first terminal holding a first terminal screw and a second terminal adjacent the first terminal and holding a second terminal screw. The terminal assembly also includes a thermal protection plate having longitudinally opposed first and second end portions, the first end portion affixed to the first terminal and the second end portion attached to the second terminal. The thermal protection plate has an electrical conductive contact residing between the first and second end portions, closer to the second end portion than the first end portion. The thermal protection plate has a first material with a first thermal coefficient of expansion overlying or underlying a second material with a second thermal coefficient of expansion with the second thermal coefficient of expansion greater than the first thermal coefficient of expansion.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 2017Date of Patent: January 16, 2018Assignee: Eaton CorporationInventors: Darron Kirby Lacey, Erik Jeffrey Gouhl, Alex Zhuang, George Zhang, Tom Xiong

Patent number: 4423401Abstract: Thin film multilayer technology is used to build microminiature electromechanical switches having low resistance metal-to-metal contacts and distinct on-off characteristics. The switches, which are electrothermally actuated, are fabricated on conventional hybrid circuit substrates using processes compatible with those employed to produce thin-film electrical circuits. In a preferred form, such a switch includes a cantilever actuating member comprising a resiliently bendable strip of a hard insulating material (e.g., silicon nitride) to which a metal (e.g., nickel) heating element is bonded. The free end of the cantilever member carries a metal contact, which is moved into (or out of) engagement with an underlying fixed contact by controlled bending of the member via electrical current applied to the heating element.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 1982Date of Patent: December 27, 1983Assignee: Tektronix, Inc.Inventor: Robert A. Patent number: 4000484Abstract: A directly heatable bimetallic strip which can be disposed to carry the load current through a thermal trip. The bimetallic strip comprises an elongate member having first and second end portions and an intermediate portion. The intermediate portion comprises three or more odd number of parallel arms extending substantially longitudinally of the strip. The arms are connected in meanderline fashion with one arm connected to the first end portion and another arm connected to the second end portion and the junctions of the arms being spaced from the first and second end portions. Two connecting pieces of an insulating material are provided. One connecting piece rigidly joins together the first end portion, the arm connected thereto and the junction or junctions adjacent to, but spaced from, the first end portion, and the other connecting piece rigidly joins together the second end portion, the arm connected thereto and the junction adjacent to, but spaced from, the second end portion.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 1975Date of Patent: December 28, 1976Assignee: Ellenberger & Poensgen GmbHInventors: by Horst Ellenberger, by Norbert Ellenberger, by Marga Sell nee Ellenberger, heirs, Jakob Philipp Ellenberger, deceased
