    Abstract: A support assembly for a heat pump system comprising a base and a plurality of platforms for supporting a respective heat pump such as a thermoelectric cooler. Resiliently flexible pipes support the platforms with respect to the base and form part of a coolant circulation system. The platforms are movable with respect to each other and the support structures allow the platforms to move with respect to the base. An object to be cooled, such as an image sensor, is mounted on the heat pumps. The platforms are able to move in response to expansion and contraction of the object thereby preventing damage to the heat pump system.

Upon a temperature change, the membrane assembly is displaced and bridges the gap, providing a high conductivity contact from the lower wafer to the receiving structure.

    Abstract: A user adjustable switching controller for duty cycle regulating flow of current to an electrical load such as a resistance heater, particularly for cooking appliances. A load current switch, when closed by a user operated cam also energizes a heat motor which includes a resistive strip attached to one active leg of a U-shaped bi-metal member. In one embodiment the integrally formed load current switch snap spring is securely attached to the heated leg of a U-shaped bi-metal and the moveable contact arm pivoted on the base. The other leg of the U-shaped bi-metal is anchored to a base including one of the load-connecting stationary terminals; and, the anchored leg serves to provide ambient temperature compensation. In another embodiment, the integrally formed blade spring of the moveable contact member is pivoted on the active leg of the U-shaped bi-metal and the moveable contact arm welded to the base.

The thermal relay includes an electrical heater of the self-regulating PTC type which is mounted upon and thermally coupled directly to a bimetal snap disc so that heat generated by the heater causes the bimetal snap disc to overcenter and operate the electrical contacts. The other electrical connection to the heater is made through a compensating blade which bears against the heater to compensate for ambient temperature effects on the thermal relay. An electric range oven control uses temperature sensitive electrical contacts in conjunction with the thermal relay to control the oven heaters.
