With Bimetallic Element Comprising Or Unitary With Latch Patents (Class 337/359)
  • Patent number: 6060990
Abstract: A heat alarm for an electric panel cabinet that mounts a heat sensor in contact with a face surface of the electric panel cabinet to monitor the temperature of the cabinet and sound an alarm if the temperature of the cabinet exceeds an upper temperature limit. The heat alarm includes a mounting arrangement that permits the heat alarm to be mounted to a face surface of the electric panel cabinet. A sensor mounting arrangement within the heat alarm enclosure provides a bias force on the heat sensor to bias the heat sensor into contact with the face surface of the electric panel cabinet.

  • Patent number: 5880667
Abstract: An indicator movable between a set and an alarm position is latched in the set position by a thermally responsive latch disposed to sense ambient temperature within electrical equipment. If a high temperature event occurs, the latch releases the indicator, which moves under resilient bias to its indicating position to present a visible signal that such an event has occurred. Once temperature has dropped below the alarm value within the electrical equipment, the indicator can be moved back to the set position where it is relatched for continued temperature sensing.

  • Patent number: 4316168
Abstract: An improved electrical circuit breaker which is so arranged that, by the deflection of a bimetal plate of approximately rectangular configuration having, at its opposite ends, electrical contacts contacting corresponding portions of terminal plates under a predetermined contact pressure, the engagement of the central portion of the bimetal plate and an engaging member is released so as to cause the bimetal plate to move in the direction normal to the direction of application of the contact pressure by spring force of a spring member through a holder member for cutting off electrical connection between the terminal plates.

  • Patent number: 4274072
Abstract: A thermostat for regulating the temperature of a space includes: means movable in the thermostat for sensing the temperature of the space; a switch device having means for switching between a pair of switching positions; and a pair of permanent magnet means for magnetic coupling relation with the switching means. Means is provided for translating the temperature sensing movement of the sensing means to the magnet means pair so as to attract the switching means from one of its switching positions to the other thereof.

  • Patent number: 4270113
Abstract: A thermal overload relay characterized by a housing containing a plurality of pole units, two pairs of spaced terminals on the housing, one terminal of each pair comprising a stationary contact within the housing, a movable contact mounted on and extending from the other of each terminal and being biased in one of the open and closed positions of the stationary contact, a slide within the housing for moving the movable contact between said positions, latch means on the slide for latching the slide in one of said positions and being spring biased in the other position, reset means for moving the slide to a latched position, each pole unit having a bimetal element responsive to current flow to effect heating thereof, and means associated with the latch means for unlatching the latch means.

  • Patent number: 4187412
Abstract: An automatic control for egg cookers, baby bottle warmer, etc. is designed around a conventional slide switch of the type normally biased to the open position. Manually actuated means are provided to move the slide switch to its ON position, whereupon a mechanical latch automatically latches onto the knob of the slide switch to hold it in its ON position. When the cooking has been completed, a bi-metal releases the latch and permits the biasing means to open the switch and terminate the heating.
