    Abstract: A circuit breaker can minimize a change in a structure of a case when a material forming a stud is changed. A stud includes a base portion provided in the case and a protruding portion protruding from the case. A cross-sectional area of the protruding portion is more than that of the base portion; thereby a thermal conductivity of the protruding portion increases and the thermal conductivity from the protruding portion to an external conductor connected to the stud increases. In addition, since a surface area of the protruding portion increases, an amount of heat dissipated from the protruding portion increases. In the invention, since dimensions of the base portion inserted into a stud insertion hole of the case are not changed, it is not necessary to change the dimensions of the insertion hole of the case.

The volume of a space between the fusible alloy in the insulating case and the sealer is larger than the volume of the flux. Sealing of the fuse is prevented from deteriorating, and the insulating film is prevented from damage even when the thermal fuse is used for breaking a large current at a high voltage.

    Abstract: There is provided a method for insulating leads of a thermal fuse with an insulating tube that can reduce the quantity of the adhesive and prevent the defect of appearance and the lowering of the value of the product, by applying an adhesive on the circumference of the leads, and putting the insulating tube on the lead from the outer end of the lead while rotating the insulating tube, so that the adhesive is present inside the insulating tube. There is also provided a low-cost, downsized thermal fuse with excellent heat resistance, by using the alloy that has a melting point of 190° C. or above as the fusible alloy, and a copper wire plated with an Sn—Cu alloy for the lead.

    Abstract: A thermally sensitive switch has a thermally conductive body within which is a chamber into which extends at least one electrically conductive terminal. Occupying the chamber is an elastomeric body which is expansible and contractile in response to increases and decreases, respectively, in its temperature. The elastomeric body may be normally conductive or normally nonconductive, but in either event is conductive when in its expanded condition. When in its expanded, conductive condition, the body engages the terminal and is operable to establish a current path through the body to the terminal. The body may function as an on-off switch or as a rheostat, depending upon the composition of the body.
