Patent number: 10794751Abstract: Provided is a fuel level sensing apparatus for a fuel tank for sensing a remaining fuel level of the fuel tank through a variation in a measured resistance value depending on a position of a wiper in contact with a resistance substrate. The resistance substrate includes a first segment part and a second segment part disposed to be spaced apart from each other. A resistance setting part of the second segment part is connected to positive electrode terminals, and a connecting part of the first segment part is connected to a negative electrode terminal by a negative electrode lead. A connection point of the negative electrode lead connected to the connecting part is formed between both ends of the connecting part in a length direction. A resistance deviation in a measured resistance value depending on a change in the position of the wiper may be reduced.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 2017Date of Patent: October 6, 2020Assignee: COAVISInventors: Young Chang Kim, Joon Seop Kim

Patent number: 4651122Abstract: A miniature electro-mechanical transducer uses a body of elastomeric material composed of alternate layers of flexible dielectric material and flexible conductive material. The ends of the layers form opposite surfaces. An actuating member moves against one surface and the other surface contacts two spaced electrodes. The arrangement is such that a progressively increasing number of layers of conductive material are brought into an electrically parallel circuit between the electrodes.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 1985Date of Patent: March 17, 1987Assignee: Northern Telecom LimitedInventors: Cecil H. Bannister, Paul N. Ramsden, Loretino M. Latessa

Patent number: 4514741Abstract: A thermal ink jet printer utilizes a printhead resistor which has a central conductive region to excite bubble growth and to cause ejection of ink droplets. The existence of the central conductive region causes bubbles to be created which are toroidal in shape and which fragment during collapse, thereby randomly distributing the resultant acoustic shock across the surface of the printhead resistor and minimizing cavitation damage.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 1982Date of Patent: April 30, 1985Assignee: Hewlett-Packard CompanyInventor: John D. Patent number: 4500866Abstract: An electric potentiometer is proposed which serves to convert a mechanical movement into an electrical value. The potentiometer includes a pickup embodied as a wiper and a resistor pad which has a plurality of connections for parallel resistors distributed over the displacement range of the pickup and serving as support points. With these parallel resistors, the partial resistance established by the pickup can be varied to a predetermined course. The support points extend crosswise to the contact track of the pickup on the resistor pad and are embodied as only so long that they terminate before reaching the contact track.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 1983Date of Patent: February 19, 1985Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Peter Romann, Rudolf Sauer, Heinrich Steinrucken

Patent number: 4137517Abstract: A regulation device is disclosed, for regulating a physical magnitude as a function of two independent parameters: the parameters can be, for example, parameters of interest in the operation of an internal-combustion engine. Instead of the conventional space cam, a surface is provided on which the third dimension is represented by different voltage so as to define on such a planar or curved surface a family of equipotential curves. The readings taken by a conductive follower are mechanically converted so as to govern the appropriate component parts of an engine so as to have an automatical adjustment of certain parameters. The device is dependable and reliable and cannot be prone to jamming or mechanical defects. The device is of the potentiometric class.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 1977Date of Patent: January 30, 1979Assignee: Alfa Romeo S.p.A.Inventor: Giampaolo Garcea

Patent number: 3944962Abstract: A variable-resistance attenuator having first and second resistive layers deposited upon an insulating substrate. Input and output terminals are electrically connected at spaced intervals to one of the resistive layers and a common terminal is electrically connected to the remaining one of the resistive layers. A pair of contacts are adapted to make slidable electrical engagement, each with an associated one of the resistive layers. Conductive bridging means mechanically and electrically connect the sliding contacts. Mechanical means are provided for simultaneous movement of the sliding contacts to change the resistance in a smooth and continuous fashion.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 1974Date of Patent: March 16, 1976Assignee: Nippon Electric Company, LimitedInventor: Hisashi Honda
