  • Patent number: 10684640
Abstract: A joystick device includes an operating rod assembly, a magnetic component mounted to the operating rod assembly, a circuit board and a reset assembly. The circuit board includes a magnetic sensor facing the magnetic component. The magnetic component is capable of moving from an initial position relative to the magnetic sensor along a first direction or a second direction opposite to the first direction when driven by the operating rod assembly. The reset assembly is connected to the operating rod assembly, configured to reset the operating rod assembly along the second direction or the first direction, so that the magnetic component is reset to the initial position. In the present application, the reset assembly is configured to reset the operating rod assembly along the second direction or the first direction, so that the magnetic component is reset to the initial position, thereby simplifying operations of the joystick device.

  • Patent number: 6639507
Abstract: A plated precision potentiometer (PPP), consists of resistance plates, disc, a screw, springs and a cylinder to enclose all moving parts. The PPP will produce a resistance determined by the location of the disc on the plates. The disc will travel on the screw; the change in location of the disc will adjust the resistance value proportionally to the distance it travels.

  • Patent number: 5570076
Abstract: The present invention provides a variable resistance device having at least one pair of channels retaining a conductive ball between them. The channels contain a resistive element and a conductive element and movement of the conductive ball within the channels, caused by rotation of the channels relative to each other, provides a variable resistance.

  • Patent number: 4975677
Abstract: A variable resistor including a resistive element and a conductive element supported by a plate. Contacting terminals are provided on one or more ends of each element. A carriage is slidably supported above the elements and a conductive roller is supported from the carriage by a suspension member that biases the conductive roller against the elements. The effective length of the current path through the resistive element is varied by using the conductive roller to electrically connect the two elements to one another along different portions of their length. In a preferred embodiment, the carriage moves under the guidance of at least one guide bar and the conductive roller is suspended from the carriage by a coiled spring.

  • Patent number: 4878040
Abstract: A variable resistor includes strip-shaped conductive and resistive elements on an insulator plate. A cylindrical-shaped, conductive roller element can be rolled over the conductive and resistive elements to vary resistance. Thereby, substantially all sliding movement or contact is eliminated, which eliminates noise and prevents excessive wear.

  • Patent number: 4794359
Abstract: A variable transformer comprising an annular core with a winding which at the end surface of the core is provided with a circular contact path to be connected with a current brush mounted on a rotor (7). The current brush consists of a contact roller journalled on a shaft pin (11) which from the rotor (7) is directed obliquely downwardly towards the end surface of the core and inwardly towards the axis thereof. The contact roller includes a double-curved contact path (17) for punctiform contact with the contact path (18) of the winding. The reactive pressure provided by said contact urges the contact roller upwardly along the shaft pin (11) which where secured to the rotor (7) is provided with a contact plate (14) that is in heat-conducting communication with the rotor (7). The contact plate (14) includes a plane circular surface (15) against which a correspondingly plane, circular surface (15') of the contact roller about the bore (12) thereof abuts.

  • Patent number: 4032880
Abstract: An electrical device is disclosed which is small in size and easily assembled. The device employs a rotatable housing and a grooved geometrically programmed disc to locate a ball contact at a desired position on a substrate. The substrate may comprise a resistor, spaced contacts or other conductive surface, and the movable ball contact may change circuit conditions incrementally when compared with the degree of movement of the drive for the ball. The ball has two points of contact with the grooved disc reducing noise and wear. The grooved disc is readily replaceable for changing the operating characteristics of the device.

  • Patent number: 4010439
Abstract: Multiple resistance elements are mounted in parallel pairs around the inside curved wall of the assembly housing. Multiple cylindrical contacts in a planetary arrangement are rotated by a friction drive surface mounted on the control shaft. Each cylindrical contact rolls on one pair of resistance elements. The cylindrical contacts, by being movable shunts between the parallel strips, provide ganged multiple potentiometer or rheostat capability. No terminal is connected to any moving part. The diameter of the drive surface and the diameter of the cylindrical contacts determine the possible number of resistance elements per assembly. Shaft rotation for full range variation, thus vernier capability, is determined by the ratio of the drive surface diameter to the inside diameter of the housing.

  • Patent number: 3964011
Abstract: A single turn potentiometer is constructed as either an open frame or a housed unit. Both units incorporate a helical coil spring wiper mounted within a rotor. In the open-frame unit, the rotor includes a shaft which extends through a corresponding hole on a ceramic substrate. The ceramic substrate cooperates with the rotor and includes a deposited cermet resistance element and a circular collector ring. A stop arrangement is built into the rotor in the open-frame unit. The closed-frame unit includes a housing having a molded-in stop for cooperation with a similar stop on the rotor. In the open-frame unit, the shaft which protrudes through the hole in the substrate is of split configuration and is spread by an insert to hold the rotor to the substrate in riveting fashion. The closed-frame unit employs a peened-over portion of the housing which is used to constrain the assembly. Means and method for affixing the conductor leads to the substrate are disclosed.
