Patent number: 10825588Abstract: Herein disclosed is a voltage dividing resistor comprising a resistance bar and a plurality of dividing connectors. The resistance bar has a first end and a second end and provides a first current path, which stretches from the first end to the second end along the resistance bar. The distance between the first end and the second end is less than the length of the first current path. The first and second ends are configured to be electrically connected to a power source. The dividing connectors are electrically connected to different locations on the first current path. Each of the dividing connectors has a contact pad. The resistance bar is not coplanar with the contact pads. A divided voltage is obtained from a pair of dividing connectors chosen from the plurality of dividing connectors.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2019Date of Patent: November 3, 2020Assignee: CHROMA ATE INC.Inventors: Chung-Lin Liu, Chien-Hsin Huang, Wen-Chung Chen

Publication number: 20030201870Abstract: The present invention relates to the resistors used for detecting current in a current-carrying circuit as a voltage, and aims to provides a resistor which assures highly accurate measurement of resistance even if the measuring point is not precisely placed. To obtain the above purpose, the resistor of the present invention comprises a sheet metal resistor element (11) and separate metal terminals (12),(13) electrically connected to both ends of the sheet resistor element(11). These terminals (12),(13) are made of metal having the same or greater electrical conductivity than that of the resistor element (11). With the above configuration, resistance of the terminals can be made smaller than that of the resistor element. This enables to reduce the proportion of resistance of the terminals in the entire resistor, allowing to ignore its effect on fluctuation of resistance due to deviation in measuring points of a resistance measuring terminal.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 21, 2003Publication date: October 30, 2003Inventors: Koichi Ikemoto, Yasuhiro Shindo, Norimitsu Chinomi

Patent number: 6184775Abstract: An improved surface mount resistor and method for making the same includes a body comprised of an elongated strip of electrically resistive material and a resistor terminal formed at each end of the resistive material. The resistive material is machined with a laser beam to create a current path having a desired resistance. The pattern cut is determined by partitioning the resistive material into a plurality of squares forming a current path through the resistive material with the correct resistivity. The resistive material is cut primarily with axial cuts so that the beam strength of the resistive material is maintained.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 1999Date of Patent: February 6, 2001Assignee: Vishay Sprague, Inc.Inventors: George V. Patent number: 5488334Abstract: The power loads in certain applications such as dummy antennas must have a substantially constant impedance in a wide band of frequencies. The power load is air-cooled and its resistive element is constituted by the series-connection of resistor modules made of expanded metal. Capacitors are positioned in a branching connection on the resistive element. The positioning of the capacitors along the resistive element and their value are determined to ensure frequency compensation.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 1995Date of Patent: January 30, 1996Assignee: ThomcastInventor: Ivan Wolk

Patent number: 5218334Abstract: A surface mountable, high current resistor (20) is formed generally in the shape of an inverted "U". The top portion (22) of the inverted "U" is flat and contains one or more openings (26, 27) that serve to alter the resistivity of the resistor. The openings are formed so as to be inverted mirror images of each other, thereby cancelling inductive effects introduced by the openings. The ends of the "U" are formed into two or more legs (24) that serve to provide stability and a mounting area for soldering the resistor to a printed circuit board. A flat, unbroken portion (28) in the center of the resistor serves as a convenient area to handle the resistor with a vacuum tool during printed circuit assembly.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 1992Date of Patent: June 8, 1993Assignee: Motorola, Inc.Inventor: Michael H. Patent number: 5034721Abstract: The invention relates to a method of manufacturing a heating element from a flat metal foil blank in which strips (1) are formed whose ends (2) are interconnected by connecting portions (3, 4) with alternate connecting portions disposed at opposite ends of the strips so as to form a meandering pattern and to a heating appliance incorporating such a heating element. In order to make such a foil heating element suitable for use in appliances in which an air stream to be heated passes over the foil heating element the connecting portions (3, 4) are bent in such a way that the strips (1) are tilted out of the plane of the foil blank. Preferably the strips are disposed an an angle .alpha. between 45.degree. and 90.degree. relative to the plane.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 1989Date of Patent: July 23, 1991Assignee: U.S. Philips Corp.Inventor: Jan H. Patent number: 4339743Abstract: A multiple resistance element assembly having two parts, an insulator base and a multiple resistance element having expanded metal resistance members. The ends of the expanded metal resistance members are serially connected by contiguous non-expanded metal sections joining the ends of adjacent members. Tabs formed from contiguous non-expanded metal are bent normal to the plane of the resistance members and are inserted into mating slots formed in the base, and lock the multiple resistance element to the base.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 1980Date of Patent: July 13, 1982Assignee: Tom McGuane IndustriesInventor: George C. Patent number: 4151398Abstract: A forced convection electrical heater assembly advantgeously utilizing expanded resistance alloy foil or grid in a pattern which produces a uniform temperature distribution in the existing airstream and which produces relatively little flow restriction on the airstream. The resistance grid in the form of at least one continuous strip is strung in a sinuous path to form a plurality of planar reaches spaced uniformly across the flow passage and extending longitudinally from inlet to outlet. Grid support elements at the inlet and outlet are arranged to force air to pass through the resistance grid only once to thereby achieve a minimum flow restriction. Alternation of the grain of the expanded foil in each plane and between planes and the provision of a flow deflector at the exit contribute to temperature uniformity.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1975Date of Patent: April 24, 1979Assignee: Gould Inc.Inventor: Douglas H. Patent number: 4019023Abstract: A dryer for articles such as a clothes dryer having a container for the articles and an air duct leading to the container for directing an air stream into the container for contact with the articles therein. Located in the duct is a heater for heating the air stream before it enters the container and an air mixing baffle in the duct extending at an angle in the direction of the air stream flow and partially into the stream for creating an even temperature turbulence in the air stream and to break up any hot air stratification. The duct is provided with an air inlet opening for supplying ambient air that mixes with the heated air as a result of the turbulence created by the mixing baffle thereby forming an even, reduced temperature of the air stream. The ambient air opening is located generally along the flow path between the baffle and the outlet from the duct.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 1975Date of Patent: April 19, 1977Assignee: Whirlpool CorporationInventors: James M.
