    Abstract: According to the drying method and apparatus of the present invention, at first, the coated film on one end side of the support is more quickly dried than that on the other end side, because drying air is supplied from one end side of the support. Subsequently, the coated film on the other end side of the support is more quickly dried than that on one end side, because drying air is supplied from the other end side of the support. Accordingly, the method and the apparatus can diminish a difference between drying rates in on one end side and in the other end side of the long support, in the whole drying zone. Thus, the method and the apparatus can uniformly dry the support and inhibit the production of a dry spot.

    Abstract: A paper web drying apparatus and process is provided in which the heated air drying medium is replaced with between 10 percent to 100 percent of live steam. The addition of a steam component to the drying medium provides for a higher drying temperature to be supplied to the wet moving web. The introduction of live pressurized steam contributes to the load of force of the drying medium, thereby decreasing the energy requirements of blower motors. The introduction of pressurized live steam also lowers the free atmospheric oxygen content of the drying medium which reduces the burning or scorch hazard associated with high temperature drying of a cellulose web.

The fabric receives the web along an upper portion of the loop before the drying section, wherein the web is supported on an upper surface of the fabric. The fabric then transports the web through the drying section in a non-inverting web run to increase the dry solids content of the web before the web is separated from the fabric. Once web is separated from the fabric, the fabric travels through the cleaning section to be cleaned before returning to receive more of the wet paper web thereon.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus achieve a more sustainable lift of a wet or heavy pulp web from a pulp machine to the topmost drying level of a pulp drying, allowing the speed of production to be increased and runnability problems to be minimized. The pulp web is lifted from the last press of the pulp machine to the topmost of the drying levels of the pulp dryer by supporting the web on a support wire. The pulp may be passed through the topmost drying level, and one or two other levels, also supported by a support wire, but in subsequent levels the pulp web is preferably supported only by an air cushion. In each level drying gas is blown toward the pulp web (preferably from both above and below the web) to effect drying, and the web passes around turning rolls between each drying level to enter the next, lower, drying level. The support wire may be of metal or plastic, and has a texture significantly coarser than the texture of wires commonly used in pulp machines.

One of the metal bands is arranged to heat and the other is arranged to cool; the heating band (1) evaporates moisture contained in the web to be dried, the moisture condensing on the surface of the cooling band (7), separated from the web (2) to be dried by drying wires. The drying space between the bands of the Condebelt.RTM. apparatus is sealed up at the edges by seal profiles (10, 11) attached to the heating band (1) or the cooling band (7). It is also possible to use a number of seal profiles positioned against each other or side by side.

The invention further relates to an apparatus for carrying out the process including a preheating means, a duct in the form of a tube drilled with holes, feed lines, and a distributor chamber enabling the heat transfer gas to impinge radially upon the outside of the yarn moving contactlessly in the duct.
