  • Patent number: 4314138
Abstract: An apparatus for applying a mixture of air and vapor to the face or hair includes an evaporator comprising a closed tank partially filled with water to leave a residual space thereabove and provided with an electric heater immersed in the water for generating a steam which fills the residual space. A first downwardly sloping tube connects the an attachment, located higher than the tank and adapted to fit on the head or face to be treated, to the residual space. A upwardly sloping second tube connects the outlet of a fan positioned lower than the tank to the residual space. Both the temperature and the flow of the vapor-air mixture can be varied by changing not only the power of the electric heater but also the rotational speed of the fan.

  • Patent number: 4186755
Abstract: Apparatus for drying tobacco which is caused to pass through a steam-heated rotating drum has a blower for admission of hot air into a first conduit which discharges hot air into the inlet of the drum or into a second conduit which discharges hot air into the outlet of the drum. The temperature of hot air which flows into the inlet is regulated in dependency on changes in moisture content of tobacco ahead of the drum, and the temperature of hot air which flows into the outlet is regulated in dependency on changes in moisture content of dried tobacco. A first pipe draws vapors-containing air from the outlet when the drum receives hot air via first conduit, and a second pipe draws vapors-containing air from the inlet when the drum receives hot air from the second conduit.

  • Patent number: 3990460
Abstract: A drying hair curler for use with an electric hair dryer having a tubular end through which pumped heated air is expelled. The curler comprises a coupling section mountable on the tubular end and an axially aligned concentric and smaller tubular section adjacent the coupling downstream thereof so that it receives a core of the expelled air from the coupling. The smaller section has peripheral apertures for outward radial air flow and the coupling section forms a bypass directing air axially along the outer surface of the smaller tubular section so that hair wound on the curler receives both radial and axial hot air flow simultaneously for better drying.
