  • Patent number: 11933892
Abstract: An ultrasound imaging system has an array of ultrasound transducers comprising a set of sub-arrays of transducers. Each transducer (100) has an analogue buffer (106). Each sub-array of transducers has a signal path (102, 104) from within the array of ultrasound transducers to outside the array of ultrasound transducers which comprises one or more hops between the buffers (106). To reduce the signal line length from inside the array of ultrasound transducers to the periphery, at least some multiple hops between buffers (106) are provided. Each buffer hop introduces a delay, but prevents signal degradation so that a large number of analog signals can be transmitted across the large area ASIC of the transducer array.

  • Patent number: 10911038
Abstract: A network flow processor integrated circuit includes a plurality of processors, a plurality of multi-threaded transactional memories (MTMs), and a configurable mesh posted transaction data bus. The configurable mesh posted transaction data bus includes a configurable command mesh and a configurable data mesh. Each of these configurable meshes includes crossbar switches and interconnecting links. A command bus transaction value issued by a processor can pass across the command mesh to an MTM. The command bus transaction bus value includes a reference value. The MTM uses the reference value to pull data across the configurable data mesh into the MTM. The MTM then uses the data to carry out the commanded transactional memory operation. Multiple such commands can pass across the posted transaction bus across different parts of the integrated circuit at the same time, and a single MTM can be carrying out multiple such operations at the same time.

  • Patent number: 10735219
Abstract: A communications network comprises a plurality of participants. A first participant transmits a message repeating sequence of N?2 successive messages to a second participant. An action which can be performed by the second participant is assigned to each message in the sequence. The first participant begins to transmit one of the N messages at N successive transmission times T_I (I=O, . . . , N?1). Each of the N messages contains a field defining a waiting time. The second participant selects one message from among the messages in the sequence which are successfully received by the second participant as a useful message, measures a time elapsed since reception of the useful message, and performs the action assigned to the useful message when the elapsed time has reached the assigned waiting time.

  • Patent number: 10434278
Abstract: A system for supplementing ultrasound image needle guidance with magnetically detected needle position and tissue impedance measurements. The system comprises an ultrasound imaging system with the ultrasound probe being provided with a magnetometric detector for detecting the position of a magnetized needle, cannula, catheter or other tissue-penetrating tool. The tissue penetrating tool is provided with an electrode at or near its tip which is connected to a power source and impedance meter, the impedance measuring circuit being completed by use of a skin electrode or second electrode on the tool so that the electrical impedance of the patient's tissue can be measured. The measured impedance values and the magnetically detected position of the tool are superimposed on the ultrasound image so that the clinician can easily confirm the needle position in relation to the imaged anatomy.

  • Patent number: 9330041
Abstract: An island-based network flow processor (IB-NFP) integrated circuit includes rectangular islands disposed in rows. In one example, the configurable mesh data bus is configurable to form a command/push/pull data bus over which multiple transactions can occur simultaneously on different parts of the integrated circuit. The rectangular islands of one row are oriented in staggered relation with respect to the rectangular islands of the next row. The left and right edges of islands in a row align with left and right edges of islands two rows down in the row structure. The data bus involves multiple meshes. In each mesh, the island has a centrally located crossbar switch and six radiating half links, and half links down to functional circuitry of the island. The staggered orientation of the islands, and the structure of the half links, allows half links of adjacent islands to align with one another.

  • Patent number: 7991286
Abstract: An optical transmission apparatus includes redundant line cards each having a plurality of ports, a hardware unit and a CPU. The hardware unit obtains failure information on redundant lines for each port. The CPU determines switching control of the redundant lines based on the failure information. Then, the hardware unit switches the redundant lines based on the switching control determined by the CPU, so as to transmit an SDH/SONET optical signal in a ring network. The CPU of one of the line cards is set as a master CPU on the corresponding line card to control switching of the redundant lines. Further, the CPU of the other line card is set as a slave CPU.

  • Patent number: 6545586
Abstract: A theatre system operating in compliance with the DMX512 protocol is also able to support remote channel assignment of the various theatre devices included therein as well as other auxiliary operating modes by establishing a device hierarchy based on unique ID numbers assigned to the theatre devices when DMX communication is inactive. The theatre devices communicate with each other bi-directionally to establish a device hierarchy. Each theatre device has a pre-assigned unique device identification number, and a hierarchy is established based on these unique ID numbers. One way to establish a hierarchy is to create a list of the unique device identification numbers of the bi-directional theatre devices in the system, and then determine the position of each theatre device on the list. The list may be assembled by one of the bi-directional theatre devices and broadcast to all when completed, or each bi-directional theatre device may itself assemble a complete list.

  • Patent number: 6507581
Abstract: A crosspoint switch includes a large number of ports and a separate pass transistor linking each possible pair of ports. When a pass transistor is turned on or off, it makes or breaks a signal path between the pair of ports it links. Each port can process signals passing through the port in any one of several operating modes, with a current operating mode being selected by input mode control data. The crosspoint switch also includes a random access memory (RAM) having a separate addressable storage location corresponding to each port. Each RAM storage location stores routing data for controlling the pass transistors connected to a corresponding port and also stores mode control data controlling the mode of the corresponding port. A memory controller responds to a parallel command from a host computer by concurrently writing routing and mode control data to two storage location of the RAM, thereby quickly making and/or breaking a signal path between two ports and selecting the operating mode of both ports.
